The book is boring... im not even half way and I can't read no more...
Why did you start a thread to recommend a book you hadn't read before?

Anyways, I read a few reviews and it sounds interesting, so I may check it out and decide for myself.

The problem with Roark is that he is often just a difficult *******. He's presented with perfectly good opportunities, but denies them because of a small little picky problem. He isn't the ideal man at all, he's just a really tallented intelleigent man who is a stubborn prick. Thats what I'm getting out of it so far, anyway. I'm not that far into it.

He stands for something he believes in.

The Fountainhead and Atlas Shrugged were the major forces in my PUA education. The Fountainhead movie is realy good IMO. Obviously some of the acting is over the top and a little lame (as are most movies from that era). But Gary Cooper has the quiet power as Roark that truly is awesome.

I don't know how they could make an Atlas Movie though. The book is just so deep that any movie will not be able to capture it. Maybe a mini series or trilogie, but one movie! No way.

Exactly. Add to that the fact that he spent a good part of his time basically making Keating look good, actually better than himself. Not something that I would do. Dominique is actually a more powerful character than Roark IMO.

What do you mean how!..you read the book!

Roark is just doing what ever he wants...I do the same things he does...I never kiss anyones ass ever! His not being a prick...maybe to people who wants to use him and put him down but not to people with self respect.

He willingly lets someone else take the credit for his work, someone inferior. And you choose to pattern yourself after such a person?

You clearly don't get it do you!

People only live up to 80 years or so...Roark doesn't care about money or fame...it wouldn't matter after your dead. All he cares about is what he can accomplish and he will do it even if someone else gets the credit for it.

I'm not choosing to pattern him. We just happen to be the same.

I currently starting into Fountain head again, from the start. I got half way through it. and didn't finish. I still haven't finished Atlas Shrugged. I've got close to the end. I'm in the middle of John Galt's massive speech that goes on for like 75 pages.

Isn't his passion seeing a specific type of building being built, not for celebrity status?

It's hard for me to believe that there is much satisfaction with allowing someone else to bring your dreams to fruition. HE had the talent, HE had the intellect yet he give it away to another who doesn't even bring it to fruition in his name. Yes, it was his idea to do with as he pleased but do you believe that he was truly satisfied watching a poser create his visions rather than himself?

Accomplishment at the hands of others rather than through his own. You actually believe that he would prefer having someone else implement his vision rather than himself? Ever really think about why people didn't want him to do it himself and he needed Peter's help to get it done because without him, it wouldn't have a chance of being built at all?

What are you talking about?

The whole book was written in a way for all the characters to need Roark.
Peter's the one who needed Roark. Roark design it on a condition to be built exactly the way he wants it. Without Roark Peter couldn't do it. Without Roark the girl I for get her name would be miserable for the rest of her life.
