Gentlemen,
We all know that the economy is in the proverbial crapper. There's a good chance it will slide even further. That being said I have noticed something. While the workforce is being pared down here in my city (several firms are in layoff mode) more women are shifting to active provisioning schema.
I've got a good career that so far has not been affected. What I have begun to detect is more women are asking the job/ career questions very early in conversation. I was at the gym the other day and a woman asked if she could work in with me on the bench seat that I was using. We got to talking and within literally 30 seconds she switched to the,"What do you do for a living" questions. Now it's normal for them to probe. They all will, but it was almost a animal on the hunt type of line from her.
Mine's not a isolated case. I have buddies telling me that they are getting the same type of stuff really early. I also have a gal friend thats in the newspaper industry. She's worried that she's about to get let go. So....recently she started dating a guy that I just didn't think would be her type. Then it hit. She told me that she thought he had coin......There it was. Provision schema in action. The things she is doing to set her hooks in are pretty obvious. I don't really know the guy, but I hope that he has his eyes open to what's occuring.
My point in all this? Don't take a womans questions as high IL. She could be on the short list to be losing her job, getting a huge paycut, etc. Be wary that she's looking to shore up her options and that you are in her sights to fill the bank account.
