"No horse gets anywhere until he is harnessed. No stream or gas drives anything until it is confined. No Niagara is ever turned into light and power until it is tunneled. No life ever grows great until it is focused, dedicated, disciplined." - Harry Emerson Fos****
Are you comfortable with how you perform each day? A large part of happiness for a grown man is being satisfied with what you have done. Have you ever spent a whole day playing computer games, watching TV, etc. How did you feel at the end of the day, and for a few days after that? That's right, you feel like ****. Gaining some satisfaction ussually leads to more fun. First off you feel good about how far you have come, and then all of a sudden you notice yourself becoming more active socially. Your a nicer guy, you feel better, your getting things done.
All that comes from self discipline. Forcing yourself to do the things that you don't want to do. The main problem with self discipline is that the person always manages to find a reason NOT to do something, or a better time to do it. If you don't do what you have to do when the going gets tough, you become a weaker person.
When your self disciplined, you achieve more every single day. You become satisfied. You start waking up with a smile on your face.
Self disciplined doesnt mean becoming a robot. It doesn't mean making to-do lists and scheduling your entire week. It simply means doing what you have to do to go where you want to go. You have to do revision and homework to get good grades and undertake the career you want - that's just common sense, you dont need it written down to see that.
Here's what I want you to do. Just figure out where you want to go with your life in health, wealth and relationships.
What do you want to look like? Figure out how you want to get those things.
Where do you want to take your life? Whats your career path, figure it all out guys.
Then once you know what you want. Your life has direction, you can start moving forward. Now you have to discipline yourself. And here's how to do it.
When you wake up in the morning, figure out your day. Dont write it down just keep it there in your head. So now your day is planed and the hard part comes - doing it. After you complete your day-plans a couple of times you start setting yourself tougher goals and you start becoming a happier person.
So how do you stick to your plan? Well it's simple really. 2 concepts that are found ALOT on this board: LIFE IS SHORT and IF YOU WANT SOMETHING, ITS UP TO YOU TO GET IT.
Hold up, Sammo. This has been said so many times before on this board, what makes it such a secret now?\
Well, those 2 concepts are probably the most motivatonal of all concepts i've read here and they motivated when i read them. But that was all, they motivated me WHEN I READ THEM. When it comes time to act, its in the past, people have forgotten it.
When you think your not going to do something, remind yourself of those 2 things. You will be amazed to see how empowering it is at the time.
Good luck guys.
