What is this s*&^? It's the female equivalent to fat girls b!tching about body image and saying that chunky girls are just as hot as girls that are in shape, except spun as a positive thing. (im not talking about curvy girls, im talking about chunky ones. i totally get why even top tier Don Juans prefer a girl thats a little bit thicker than Adriana Lima. I'm not talking to those guys/gals)

Out of shape guys like the Dad Bod movement because now they have an excuse to eat garbage and not take care of their body.

Mediocre girls like it because they can hide their insecurity and the fact that they can't get attractive men behind this facade that they "think the Dad Bod is sexy".

The worst part is (naturally) that social media and journalism has jumped on board to officially make this A Thing. I believe it stemed from two main things: 1) a viral article about the Dad Bod, and 2) pictures of Leo DiCaprio where he's shirtless and out of shape .

If you want to let your body go to waste and become out of shape, Fine. But don't act like this Dad Bod is just another "preference" for girls, similar to how some guys like brunettes and some guys like blondes. Girls are sexually attracted to men that are athletic and in shape. Will all other variables being equal (personality, income level, sexual prowess, intelligence) the VAST majority of women will always choose the man with an athletic body.

You know your buddies who point at the banging blonde girl in the tight blue dress and go "awww nah man shes not THATTT hot...she's so fake looking!!! I want cute girl that doesn't have to wear makeup"?? FVCK THAT. That girl with the pushup bra comes over and grabs your c0ck and says "let's go out to my car", and EVERY guy will be up in there faster than a rabbit gets fvcked. There's a reason that guys say things like this. BECAUSE THEY KNOW THAT THEY DO NOT HAVE A CHANCE IN HELL WITH THE HOT GIRL so they have to rationalize this somehow.

Whatever. Those guys and gals can fool themselves and rationalize their laziness. I'll be over here hitting the gym five times a week and i'll be waiting when that 10/10 blonde walks into the bar, smiling at them as she runs her hand over my back.

You owe it to yourself to become the best version of yourself. Don't let anyone else give you a reason to be anything less.

I don't know man, one of my platonic girl friends is a self-described "chubby chaser" and we all give her sh!t for it haha. She pretty much exclusively dates guys who look like they're offensive lineman, and she's a pretty good looking girl too, probably an 8.

This girl i was dating a while back was one of those smart hippiesh types that didn't wear makeup and kinda resented how she had to dress up to go out and all that. Always kind of thought I was too into working out and acted like she didn't care about how fit i was and blah blah.

I'll always remember one time after we fvcked she looked at me and said something along the lines of: "i know I always act like your muscles aren't that important and i always give you sh!t about it....but damn. Your muscles are sexy as fvck."

Mauser here realizes something that some of the others don't: The "dad bod" concept came from WOMEN, not men. It wasn't men saying "I'm too lazy to be in shape, I'll have a dad bod instead". It was women saying that they preferred a guy with what they called a "dad bod".

I think the reason why is understandable. They say they like the dad bod because if a guy is in dead perfect shape, that can be intimidating to a girl whose body isn't perfect, or is insecure about her own body (and many women are, as we know). It's like that scene in the movie Crazy, Stupid, Love, when Ryan Gosling takes off his shirt to reveal his abs and Emma Stone says "Oh, come on! That isn't fair!", because then she felt under pressure to be in great shape herself. So if the laziness comes from anywhere, it comes from the laziness of WOMEN, not men.

HOWEVER, I've already seen this concept twisted. A "dad bod" is supposed to be a guy who's somewhere in between being in shape and not being in shape, or being just a little out of shape. It does NOT mean a fat obese guy. But I saw a news story about this on TV and they had the biggest, fattest dude on there you ever saw saying "Hey, isn't this great"? And increasingly, guys are taking the original concept and expanding it as meaning you can be a big fat slob and women will love it. Umm, no, that's not what it means. It's like women who have taken the term "curvy" and used it to mean "obese".

The original examples of dad bods were like college frat guys who maybe played some basketball during the week but also maybe drank too many beers so they had a bit of a pooch. Not a fat 40 year old who couldn't get off his couch.

That point aside, yes, it's always preferable to be in shape.

Plenty of wives and gfs want their man to look ok, but not too hot.

They do the same thing with clothes. A lot of these men wear what I call the "wife shirt and tie." (In many cases, it is a gift that wifey bought.). It's decent looking and professional enough for work. But he's never gonna pull a ONS wearing such clothes lol.

Overall its a ploy to lower the value (appearance wise) of Husbands, Boyfriends or just a guy a Woman is dating. If he is more on the chubby/fat side, His chances of landing or attracting other Women is low and so she can mistreat him or manipulate him without worrying too much that he may just pick up and leave for another Woman that desires him. So he will put up with more drama from that female in order to keep her whereas an average to good looking guy with a great body and low bodyfat can just say "Hey... The manager knows that the employee needs the money because they are not abundant financially and thus can be controlled because of the Paycheck. A Man who works because he wants to but had mid to high six figures in his bank account will give his boss sh*t right back because he has no fear of a paycheck loss, Thus creating a shift in power. This is also why Women "fear" or should i say ...feel insecure with very good looking Men/Boyfriend/Husband because they hate knowing if he leaves, another chick may be sitting on his lap the following week. Keep him fat and undesirable so she feels more "equal" or more in control of him.

Sounds like she doesnt have the confidence to date an in-shape guy. Ive dated women like that. They constantly showered me with compliments but acted super insecure about themselves (this gets annoying after a while). And they werent in terrible shape, they simply didnt hit the gym consistently like I did. They had average figures but cute faces.

I highly doubt your friend would turn down a night of hot sex with a guy in great shape.

Agreed! A total shame and disgrace. I've seen this happen way to often where guys get into LTR's or worse yet marriage! Then their "significant other" cons them into thinking it's fine to let themselves go.

The #1 advice you see here on SS after a break up is to start working on yourself. Why is that? Because we all know that guys who are comfortable tend to let themselves go. If you think this is a made up market.....you may be fooling yourself.

Yes being fit and looking good will always be the best for anyone, but most of us just use it to land the girl then get lazy.

The funny part is that a women will also let herself get fat, but when she sees she's getting less attention or looks from other guys, she'll blame it on her boyfriend or husband for letting it happen.
