These foreign countries are always scamming the US. Whether it's with trade products or immigration and fake degrees of their workers.

Kaspersky Lab sells security software, including antivirus programs recommended by big-box stores and other U.S. PC retailers. The Moscow-based company ranks sixth in revenue among security-software makers, taking in $667 million in 2013, and is a favorite among Best Buy’s Geek Squad technicians and reviewers on Amazon.com. Founder and Chief Executive Officer Eugene Kaspersky used to work for the KGB, and in 2007, one of the company’s Japanese ad campaigns used the slogan “A Specialist in Cryptography from KGB.” The sales tactic, a local partner’s idea, was “quickly removed by headquarters,” according to Kaspersky Lab, as the company recruited senior managers in the U.S. and Europe to expand its business and readied an initial public offering with a U.S. investment firm.

In 2012, however, Kaspersky Lab abruptly changed course. Since then, high-level managers have left or been fired, their jobs often filled by people with closer ties to Russia’s military or intelligence services. Some of these people actively aid criminal investigations by the FSB, the KGB’s successor, using data from some of the 400 million customers who rely on Kaspersky Lab’s software, say six current and former employees who declined to discuss the matter publicly because they feared reprisals.

I don't think that the average American citizen has much reason to worry about being targeted by Russian spies. I'd be more concerned about being spied on by your own government (i.e. the NSA). And as we know from Snowden's revelations, all major American technology companies (including Google, Apple and Microsoft) collaborate with the NSA and have built backdoors into their products.

True, I'm not as worried about Russia or other foreign countries targeting an average American citizen. But all these foreign countries spying and frauding does harm the average American. Also, as far as I'm concerned Russia is communist and communist in this country do a lot of damage.

^This.

ALL key computer products, without exception, have back doors for special services. Your favorite United States made operating system, Microsoft Windows, has backdoors for NSA to get access to you, and your favorite United States AntiVirus software has backdoor as well. Your smart phone has a backdoor!

This is why I don't use Kasperski, I don't want Russian government spy on me, because I live in Russia. Not that I have anything at all interesting, but, who knows, what if I do somehow have something and they get interested. I live in Russia, and they have jurisdiction over me. Instead I use antivirus software made in other countries (NOD32), I don't give a damn if USA spies on me, makes no difference to me.

This is also a reason why I don't buy iPhones sold in Russia, I had my two iPhones send to me from United States.

Yes, the NSA has access to my phones, but who cares, FSB doesn't.

If tomorrow I suddenly switched my country and lived in United States, I would be using Kasperski, and I would order an iPhone or some other phone from Russia. This way NSA don't have access to me, FSB does, but again, who cares!

P.S. You OP should not be going like 'those damn foreign spies', you should be smarter (from your other posts lack of brain is your train by the way), you should be more like 'oh yea baby, if I use Kasperski my own damn government won't spy on me, nice!!!

The same Russia that invaded Crimea and Ukraine and threatens the Baltics and other neighbors. Being against gay marriage doesn't alone make one an ally or friend.

Russia invaded Crimea and Ukraine after an American-backed coupe resulted in a violent overthrow of Ukraine's democratically elected president. Imagine the Russians organizing a violent overthrow of the Canadian government and putting one of their lackeys in power. Do you honestly think that America would not invade Canada in such a scenario?

Russia has been meddling in latin America and the middle east and Eastern Europe for decades . And Russian backed communist have been screwing around right here in the US since at least the 50's. The difference is not that the west supported one leader of Ukraine and Russia another. The difference is Russia claimed sovereign Ukrainian territory. Did the US invade Cuba and claim the territory? They were even pointing Russian nuclear missles at us at one time.

To be honest, I don't get the love for commie Russia. They sold so many weapons to the towel heads and China, and have killed more white conservatives than anyone. They stole the A-bomb technology from US and most of their military technology from US and Germany. They've never been a friend.
