I am 37. I discovered this site last year. I found it congruent with what I had already believed, and also congruent with the advice I'd was dishing out on my own dating advice web-column.

The other difference is that my rAFC friend has had about 2 women and my approach has allowed me to take my pick.

My personal feeling about your friend is that it doesn't matter much what you believe, as long as you approach women on a regular basis you can believe aliens are about to invade the earth and women have penises too, and you'll still find some success.

On the other hand, if you sit on your laurels, it doesn't matter much what you believe, does it? I may be wrong about that - I've been wrong so many times in my life, why not again? But maybe you're saying that hippie feminist beliefs have instilled a "wait for mrs. right philosophy" which prevent him from approaching. That is indeed a shame.

I think this is by far one of the absolute best posts/tips I've ever read on this board. This whole post stuck in my mind all day today, and it really gave me quite the confidence boost. I figured I'd rather just be honest with my intentions than have some hidden agenda. I checked out girls shamelessly all day today.

My advice column was called 'Towelie's Linen Closet Of Love' (my ID elsewhere is often Towelie) and it was part of a once popular satirical site called Scorched Planet. It might be cached somewhere, but the site was closed by lawyers after we viciously annotated a script by Ain't It Cool News' Drew McWeenie.

I started it after reading some internet AFC saying how he was planning to surprise his date by scattering rose petals in the path from her to his apartment. How romantic and magical, he thought. Aaaaaargh I thought and started my Guide To Chicks section, dishing out your basic ' be a bit of a challenge, girls don't like creepy kiss-asses' advice.

I have always studied women and relationships. I made a few AFC mistakes when I was a teen, but my natural ****iness and mean sense of humour, reasonably good looks (see pic in profile if curious) and social proof, charm etc have served me well. Even so, when I say I take my pick there are still lots of women for who I am just not their type. So I don't bother with them.

My friend is also intelligent, popular and funny. But a combination of his romantic, idealised view of women, bad advice form his mother, ultra-pickiness, unwillingness to approach and maintain sexual state and perhaps lack of testosterone all contribute to his lack of success. His being 'brainwashed by feminism' is perhaps a bit strong - it's more that his natural personality and nurture made him AFC, and the radical feminism of the 80s that he (and I) were surrounded with cemented it as politically correct.

This post is ridiculous. I'll admit im an AFC, trying to change that. But i do not claim to be any nicer than anyone else, or any better than anybody else. Im actually against game playing, i love honesty and being straightforward. But i never go and proclaim that im such a "nice" guy. The pt. alot of people make is that women dont make nice guys. What is meant by that is women dont respind well to guys treatin them well, as much as the guys who dont treat em as well. Not every afc that treats women nice is fakin it to get in her pants. Of course they want in her pants, but doesnt mean they wouldnt be nice anyway. This is a broad generalization as someone pointed out already.
