I see that someone mentioned Franziskaner and Paulaner. I drank both when I was in Germany, and I found Franziskaner to be better. I would drink it if I could find it around here, German beers are the fücking best, with the ones from Bayern having an edge on the others.

Depending on how much money I got I drink Heineken (brewed in Holland), Becks (brewed in Germany), Gösser (brewed in Austria), Guiness (brewed in Ireland), or cheaper ones made in Romania like Ursus, Timisoreana, Bergenbier. Ursus is my favourite if you compare the price with the quality.

Dinamo is playing in an hour so I'm about to open a 5L cask of a German beer that I never drank before, its called Grafen Walder, hope its good.

I never drank American beers like Budweiser and all the others you guys mentioned here, but I know some North American lads and they all agree that the beer in Europe is a lot better.

PS if you love beer than at least one visit to the Oktoberfest in München is a must.

What is the malted liquor? What gets you drunker quicker? What comes in bottles or in cans?

Malt liquor is low-brow ghetto beer, designed for transients and homeless people. It tastes bad and will fvck you up. (I once had a bottle of Steel Reserve 211 b/c it was all that was available at the time-- I would NEVER do it again.) It has 8% ABV and has corn syrup in it to make it hit faster. It's really deceptive because you don't really know how much alcohol you are drinking, so the buzz hits you hard, and it's not even a good buzz. I felt sick the whole time it lasted, and a good beer should never do that.

If you want to get drunk fast, just drink vodka like respectable people do.

malt liquor

Mickey's is ok. Old English and Colt 45 are much worse.

No discussion of cheap ghetto drinks is complete without at least a mention of ghetto wine. Mad Dog 20/20, Boone's Farm, and Night Train are all time-honored classics.

I have to second the fact that Steel Reserve is utter sh!t. Makes Hams or Piels taste like Crystal.

Most beers don't got nothin on the Hefe :p

I prefer Corona extra for a light brew. Then for dark it's either Hefe or Newcastle.

And you're wrong about 211 yo! If transients and bums wanna get messed up fast, theyll turn to a 3 dollar bottle of Mad dawg 20/20

I was actually quoting song lyrics (by wierd al I think):D . I mean if I was actually asking what malted liquor was, then I wouldn't have done it in such a retarded or grammatically incorrect way.

Thanks anyway, though. that was quite informative.

You essentially upped your VALUE in her eyes by showing her that, if she wants you, she has to at times do things that you like to do. You are SOMETHING after all. You are NOT FREE. If she wants to hang with you, it's going to cost her something — time, effort, money.

I think heinekin tastes better out of a can than a bottle b/c they ship in those green bottles that let the beer get skunky on its way over. St Pauli Girl suffers from the same problem to the point of being rather rank (the best part about it is the girl on the label and to enjoy that you don't even have to buy the beer ;) )

I've never had Paulaner, but Franziskaner is indeed good, glad to see that I'm not alone around here. Where I come from, you can get it in a 6-pack green bottle carrier or in a single larger brown bottle. The brown bottle tastes better, I think.

Arrogant Bastard, eh? I'll see if I can find it. There's one favorite of mine called Dirty Bastard, by Founders brewery, in W. Michigan, which is excellent, a lot like MacEwan's. Founders' IPA is supposed to be even better, but I've not found it yet in the local shops.

Founders has a brew they occasionally put out called Devil Dancer, which is a 13% ale that's even too hoppy for me... can be used as digestive bitters. But I'll pick some up again, because it makes a great mixer, to salvage any disappointingly tasteless piss water.

And I forgot to mention my favorite stout: Old Rasputin. "Never Say Die," it says on the carton. It's a 9% stout that looks like used motor oil and tastes great.
Do you like the Bell's line of beers? Oberon has been all the rage the last few years, served with a slice of orange.

Fvcking Sam Adams Boston lager. Best domestic beer either side of the Potomac.

Definitely. If I was someplace and there were only domestics to choose from, then I would choose Sam adams.

I've had Oberon, and enjoy it, but it's not one of my top brews. Not crisp or hoppy enough for my taste. Perhaps the orange adds some necessary tanginess.

I just was at Motor City Brewing Works this evening checking out a show by an angelic chick band called Slumber Party, and had a glass of their Strong Ale. Damn, that is one hella good brew. Near perfection. But one glass was enough for such a short evening. One more and I'd be risking a DUI.

Just because a woman listens to you and acts interested in what you say doesn't mean she really is. She might just be acting polite, while silently wishing that the date would hurry up and end, or that you would go away... and never come back.

I like Red Stripe best.

For heavier taste, I prefer Bass

Most of all, I like to order Miller High Life in bars because it makes me look like a f----in' 1970s swinger or a guy who sweeps stairs for a dollar

Rainier is THE Seattle beer for me. This summer was Rainier, PBR and Mickey's... way too much Mickey's. Carling is nice too. And I don't think cider is for gay 12 year old delinquents anymore, thanks to the magic of Magners and ice on a hot day :)

Rolling Rock or Budweiser Select or Budlight if I'm going domestic

Heniken, Becks Becks light, Negro Modello, Bohiman, Red Stripe (sometimes) and my overall favorite Brahma if I'm going international.

If I'm going cheap I go Keystone light or Miller Highlife or Highlife light.

...Man I'm an alcy:D

I have tried hundreds, if not THOUSANDS of beers from everywhere in the world, from Mexico to Germany and back, even partied at Oktoberfest in Germany last year.

Pretty much every country has decent beer, but I will tell you that hands down BY FAR the VERY BEST beer I have ever tried was in Berlin, Germany at the microbreweries.

You have never tried a german pilsner until you have had one sitting in the beer garden of a German microbrewery. There is NO comparison. Warsteiner and the other stuff you get in the states isn't even close.

As much as I loved the German pilsner, the standout was the weisen. I love my Julius Echter, and there is a local brewery here in town that makes a killer hefe-weisen, but the wheat beer at the microbreweries in Berlin was by far the most delicious beverage that I have ever tasted. I can't even begin to describe it, but it was absolutely out of this world.

I was less impressed by Czech beer, which is supposed to be some of the best in the world. The microbrewed beers were pretty tasty, but no comparison to the German stuff. I did hit a little local bar that was WAY off the tourist path and had a couple of beers that cost about $.75 US...that was very interesting.....

In Amsterdam I walked about 1000 miles (ok, so it was only a couple of miles....) to a microbrewery that was located inside a windmill. Good stuff, and cheap too. I sampled a few of the Belgian brews in Amsterdam, but quite honestly there are a couple of places right here in town that sell hundreds of the Belgian brews (which I love, BTW) so I wasn't impressed. I love the Belgian beers so next time I'm in that part of the world I am definitely planning a day or two there.

As for the stuff you can get in the states......had an IPA (if I remember correctly) from the Great Lakes Brewing Company when I was in Ohio and I was blown away. Had a beer called Palm Beach Blonde at a beer festival a couple of years ago that was outstanding (unfortunately I havent seen it distributed yet). I have several other faves, but for the most part I like the stuff right out of the tap at the microbreweries. Yes, Americans make some great beer. Unfortunately most 7-11 and grocery store shelves aren't the best place to find them
