OK, I'm sure that hubby is going to have to drop another $150K on the wedding celebration, so it looks like the downpayment on this piece of azz is going to cost about $600K, and I'm sure the monthly payments and future "separation bonus" will be equally painful.
The only person worth that kind of loot is ME!!!! I guess the rule of thumb is what, 25%-30% of your yearly salary and I find that to be ridiculous in itself. Buying love, not good! I recall back throughout the years when people married, they got what they could afford.

Even making several figures a year would not justify this nonsense.

If I ever buy a ring, I'm going to buy a synthetic diamond for cheap and lie.

She will never know, they can't even tell the difference in a lab.

And she has done...what to deserve a $450,000 ring? Look good in her underwear?

Whatever...it's Bloom's money. Let him burn it however he wants. :p

But then again, maybe this chick is worth it:

They are celebrities - they are both financially well-off and he can easily afford a pricey ring.

Orlando can do as he pleases - whether or not their marriage succeeds, no one, including you, knows for certain.

What happens, IN HER MIND, is that she comes to see you as WORTHLESS simply because she hasn't had to INVEST anything in you in order to get you or to keep you.

You were an interesting diversion while she had nothing else to do. But now that someone a little more valuable has come along, someone who expects her to treat him very well, she'll have no problem at all dropping you or demoting you to lowly "friendship" status.

You really think he will get away with a 150k wedding, when he got her a 450k engagement ring?

Try a million plus wedding..

Between "Pirates" and "Lord of the Rings", I'm curious as to how much money he has.

Could be a "million plus" for him is like me running down to Chik-Fil-A for lunch.

If so, I'd be spending it on stupid stuff too.

According to that website, Orlando Bloom has a net worth of $42 mil. They listed his pay for the Pirates series but I'm not sure how they arrived at the number. But either way, it's safe to say that $450 k isn't a whole lot for a guy like him. Given that he is an A-list actor, I'm pretty sure he'll recoup the costs spent on the ring and the wedding pretty quickly.

So that's about 1% of his net worth.

Still $450k for an engagement ring, when the wedding might not even happen.

I really hate how these celebs and the wedding/engagement industry just messes up these women's expectations.

20k for a wedding is the avg.

A couple could buy a new car, pay off debt , put a down payment on a house, start the marriage off debt free ( and without an azz load of stress), but how dare we deprive women of THEIR day?

To be fair, if you or I had that much money, we would probably be spending it on stupid stuff too. These celebs have got money and they're enjoying it as they are entitled to. People who try to emulate them when they have maybe 1/100th of their net worth are just stupid.

No trim is worth a 450K rock. He is a fool for buying that, 42M or no 42M. He better be hoarding that money as lots of these Hollywood people end up bankrupt due to their spending habits.

Who wants to start a pool on how long their marriage will last?

Frankly she is not that good looking. She is OK but thats it.

450k to him is probably like 500 bucks to us.

I do find the whole diamond engagement ring ritual disturbing though. Not only does it place the girl on a pedestal (it totally makes her the prize), but it reeks of being a scam by the jewelry industry.

Crazy stuff, I go down to Boca every now and then to visit family & I see a lot of women down there sporting rocks damn near the size of marbles. These guys are all obviously rich afc's if they have to buy rocks that big just to keep a woman around.

One guy I know of down there had a wife that was threatening divorce, so he goes and buys her an estate on the French Riviera AND her own private jet to fly there to keep her happy. It only set him back about $85,000,000.

Sounds like the divorce might have been cheaper.
