I'm a HUUUUGE 24 fan. Not like I want to bark like baby seal over Jack, but it's a wonderfully done show, with fantastic twists, and it bests MOST movies since it tops 24 hours. If you can't stand the drudgery of sitting in front of a TV for that many months, rent them via NetFlix or Blockbuster, or from a friend, or if you're savy, you can download the entire season, which is a better way to get your doses of '24'.

For those watching...what theories do you have on the schtic this season? What's the REAL terrorist situation that was plotted?

In my opinion, this season is the numero uno, best, because of the reality, it's links to the real situations we face now, and how the cast has developed. Season 4 was good, but the tried and true islamic/iraqi/muslim thing is played out.

-----------------------------

I knew the President had some involvement, though we don't know to what extent. The give-away was Lynn McGill's key card incident. The President placed him in CTU. However, his hard was stolen when his druggy sister needed help, and he got whacked around by the crackhead boyfriend. For the terrorists to place their WHOLE plot on this guy, or this crackhead boyfriend was ludicrous. Obviously the President put Lynn there for a reason. And in earlier episodes, it was said Lynn had the ability to get 50% of the staff fired in a short-time frame, so it seemed he wasn't totally liked in the government. The card was a HUGE clue, b/c that enabled the terrorists to gain access to CTU, thereby setting off the nerve gas, setting up Homeland Security, and trying to bury the evidence and investigation AGAINST the President or any moles.

Moreover, Jack has no allegiance to Homeland, and is only there under CTU orders. He has no back up under CTU, so by instituting Homeland, you've rendered ALL the old guard ineffective, and enabled a timeframe long enough to bury information, finish the activities and plan, and allow the conspirators time to get away.

Therefore the President, and maybe even the VP are in on this. Normally it's only one mole, and CTU has been notorious for moles. However, it would be just like 24 to have dual moles, with plans with opposite each other.

I'm here to find out other thoughts, theories, and opinions. If you've never seen it, GO now, or join. Even if you join midseason, that is ok. There's 8 episodes left, or about 6 weeks, plus 1 2 hour final episode, or maybe 4 weeks and 2 2 hour episode weeks. It depends.

Needless to say, until last season, I wasn't hooked, then i went back and check them out. It also gets me through MOST of the non sports season, THAT is without baseball and football, since I don't gravitate toward basketball, or hockey, and golf is just gearing up.

I've been watching this season of 24, and actually the fact that the president was in on it suprised me. He's so weak I just couldn't see him doing it. It makes sense though because he wants to seem like a heroic president that he wouldn't otherwise be if not for the terrorists.

Re:

I agree with Soupar, at the outset, it seemed impossible.

But then the Lynn McGill keycard incident occurred. -Tip 1.
And he was ready and willing to accept ANYONE's input, other than his own, dating back to season 4, when the re-introduced David Palmer as an outside counsel.

I do not think that the President is doing ALL of it. He's most likely a puppet operating under a FALSE belief of doing "the right thing." He did that with the Suvarov's, with Walt Cummings, with his Own wife, with the Nerve Gas. In all cases, he was willing to accept short-term gain, for potentially LONG-term losses.

There's 8 episodes left, and if all we have to watch is Jack prove that the white house concocted this whole scheme for whatever the reasons are, then that's pretty boring.

Some plot twists I could fathom...

1. Henderson gained knowledge of Jack's existence/death, and notified the Chinese Consulate and is playing BOTH sides of the coin, against the President.

2. China found out about Jack's existence, contacted the President, and told them the consequences if they did not provide his body, and all people who knew of his existence. If he did not comply, then their intrusion last season was an act of war, and the US would suffer. He may have only hired Henderson to kill Jack and the rest of them those who knew, and Henderson Double Crossed the President by involving nerve gas, possibly via the VP.

Why the VP? Because it was HIS idea for them to enact martial law, and bierko waited until it was in effect to release the gas. They could have gone RIGHT for the gas plant, without any problems, BUT, they first used 1 cannister to cripple CTU, allowing homeland in, which suggest an alternate agenda on behalf of the VP. Moreover, the gas is MORE effective when people HAVE to be at home, and businesses wouldn't be open either if people can't be on the road.

So it might seem possible, Henderson is working as a double agent, for the VP and Pres. For the VP, to make the gas and whatever his TRUE agenda is, and for the President, just to wipe out those who knew Jack.

That's my first thoughts.

Wait, so why does he want Bauer dead if he wants to be heroic? Doesn't that guy know without Jack Bauer the world goes kabloooiee?!?!

Don't always be the one putting yourself out for her. Don't always be the one putting all the effort and work into the relationship. Let her, and expect her, to treat you as well as you treat her, and to improve the quality of your life.

I think we will eventually find out that the President and Henderson are working for an even higher goal and the are actually both good and a MAJOR plot will be revealed that their actions are preventing.

Just like when Jack supposidley went against CTU in the eyes of CTU in Season 3 when he broke out Salazar out of prison and went back in undercover with them (and only Tony and Gael knew what was going on).

I think Henderson might be in a similar spot to that. It will look like him and the President are the main terrorists for a few episodes and then WHAM major plot twist, turns out theyre all good and Bauer is let in on it and made to save the day cause of some crazy reason.

Thats my prediction.
