From a pot heads mouth, my take on weed:
I started smoking when I was 11 years old. 25 now.. So, there. I''ll lay out the pros and cons, you decide if its worth it

Pros:
* get to know some interesting people
* girls 18-30 are super open now to smoke & chill aka go somewhere and get blazzed and then get to the good stuff
* ''relax'' (i ll argue this so called pro, check below)

Cons:
* Less Productive: Let me explain, theres is no such thing as '' oh I just do it on the weekends'' NOPE, if you have your stash somewhere around the house and some spare time that you could be using to exercise, read, meditate, paint, work some more why not.. Yo wont, you ll do just a little bit that will slow you the f8ck down
* You get to know some people, YES, who are also pot-heads. No high-value (not looks only) chick will be rolling your joints, you will not meet some cute teacher smoking w33d on a daily basis.
* The irony, it will NOT make you sociable. Try going high as kite to a bar, you will not be talking to new people, you will be in your head or just '' vibing'' by your lonely.
* The relaxation it gives you, is temporary. If you look closely at yourself you'll see some muscles tensing up ironically (regulars will know what im talking)
* Hiding from family, throwing away valuable time you can use to be a better father/son/brother because and creating connections with them
* It will affect your gains. I repeat, it will affect your gains. If you re hitting the gym stay away from it. You are not Nate Diaz
* Yellow teeth.
* It is addictive. YES IT IS. You start with the regular, but eyyy this white russian, this blueberry this whate, ver smells better and its stronger lets give it a try. The move on to Wax then then then... it is addictive if you quit all of the sudden you wont have convulsions or so its not crack but IT IS addictive.
* it affects your buddy down there, proven. Same as cigarretes, reasons is because it blocks regular blood flow cells.

So there you have it, so as I read somewhere recently. If you need drugs to have fun, you are not a fun person to begin with
PD: save all the ''its medicinal'' explanations and amazing benefits it has on people with problems, im talking to the regular joe.

I agree with all of the above. But like anything in life, it's all about self regulation and moderation. Same thing you'd do for porn/fap, sugars, sodas, fast food, etc.
For those that can't self regulate, abstaining from it is the best until you can learn to do so.

I'm starting to think it may be wise for me to stop smoking... every time that I end up getting really high I catch all my negative and self limiting thoughts rolling through my head again. Even when I've been doing way better about those when I'm not high.

Overall I'm going to agree that what you say is true.

I find it difficult and unpleasant to get high as a kite. I also don't like being drunk. I like drinks for the flavor and not the buzz. I know if I drink too much then I'll puke and have a hangover the next day, so left to my own devices I'll never get past tipsy. Weed has no hangover, so it has that much going for it.

I did get the best gains I've ever had while on it, so that's a bit subjective. Before the covid I was in the best shape I've ever been in and I still smoked lots. But it still does affect me if I'm doing it and trying to work.

I do get a creative bonus from smoking it, at the cost of me being more disorganized than usual. Creative thinking is one of my strong suits. But do I smoke just enough to enhance my creativity, and only when necessary? No.

I'm starting to think it may be wise for me to stop smoking... every time that I end up getting really high I catch all my negative and self limiting thoughts rolling through my head again. Even when I've been doing way better about those when I'm not high.
The negative and self limiting thoughts in your head are not something that has to be there. I had this problem for a very long time and making it stop had nothing to do with quitting smoking. You need to learn to not try and control what is beyond your control and take control over that which you have control, otherwise your mind clashes with reality.

But overall I agree, buying it is the sin.

I've heard the opposite, that weed expands blood vessels and cigarettes constrict them. I'll get hornier when I smoke weed and can fuuck longer but if I smoke too much I go a bit limp from anxiety.

@Lookatu is right, all in moderation. Personally I used it as an escape when I was younger without even realizing it. Stress challenges you and forces you to grow as a person. When you numb yourself to that stress you're stunting your growth. Ironically you'll have to take care of it eventually and are only making it harder for your future self. You should take the stressful challenge head on asap and find a solution, not kick the can down the road with weed.

I have some in the house but am taking a multi year break to prove a point to myself. For me it was not wanting to depend on any substances for happiness or relaxation. I'm sure I'll smoke again in the future, but never on the daily again.

All mind altering substances need to be shown respect, otherwise they'll screw your life up subtly or not so subtly. I designate time and plan out all drug trips to make sure I get the most out of the experience while maintaining responsibility of all consequences and sunk cost. Drugs are a precious gift, not something to be squandered.

Amen brother.

I grow my own but only smoke it like once a month, if that. I have over 8oz in jars stored up so far. During the lockdown, I took a good portion of that to make brownie and gummy edibles for friends to help them deal with some stresses.

My GG-4 grow is almost done speaking of...

It is addictive. YES IT IS.
I think what they mean when they say it isn't addictive is that it isn't physically addictive. It, like anything else, can most certainly be psychologically addictive.

Until last year, I had not smoked since 1992.
When I initially smoked, we knew the origin (Colombian, Home Grown, Panama, Mexican, Hawaiian etc..) . At some point, no one knew where it came from any longer and suddenly, there were names like "kind" Crippy" "skunk" etc... The feeling and effect around this time, also seemed to be more intense and not as mellow or "fun."

My use was always moderate and I never had any problems keeping to a occasional recreational past time. I just got tired of it.

After more than twenty five years (last year) I decided to indulge. Personally, I think that it's more enjoyable than when I decided to quit, but I can take it or leave it. The one cool thing is that I can put on some old records and (when high) they seem fresh and more dimensional.

UPDATE: got right back to it, by using a '' different '' way with a vaporizer. With ''cleaner'' weed. I have been clean for a few days and the differences are notable. Better mood, more productive, stronger erections.. its a demon in disguise that keeps hunting me but im getting detached slowly from it. Appretiate all the comments

for young ppl, this and other substances can affect professional opportunities. I clearly remember two different times where testing and history investigation did with me. had I not been clean my opportunity at that time would have been cut short. depending on what you want to or end up doing, this can be a roadblock.

I agree.

I have an issue with government legalizing weed and treating it like alcohol without doing more research and putting more emphasis on the bottom line in terms of tax revenue instead.
It's been shown that weed can and often does affect young minds that aren't fully developed. The brain generally doesn't fully develop until the age of 25 or so. I do not advocate people under 25 to smoke a lot of weed as it will make them slow and therefore affect their future employment/career potential. I feel government needs to up the age limit of weed in legal states to 25 and also put out a lot of PSA's in being responsible with it with the added revenue that they are getting.

Just because a woman listens to you and acts interested in what you say doesn't mean she really is. She might just be acting polite, while silently wishing that the date would hurry up and end, or that you would go away... and never come back.

Yep. Weed makes people question concepts instead of accepting them at face value. The study of law is rote memorization, majority rule is this, could go the other way if minority rule is applied. Weed makes you ask questions, like why is the law this way? Who benefits? Whose interests does the law represent? And those subjects are not only not on the test, the system is set up to eliminate the people who question that system too much. The damn law school exams are a contest to duplicate the professor's essay exactly. I had professors tell me I lost points by including information that was all true and correct, but they didn't think of it ahead of time and put it into the model answer.

This. I grow as well and if i didn't I probably would have given it up years ago. The crazy thing about it too is it's not the weed, it's the people. The people that abuse it, the people that make laws around it, and the people in gangs/drug cartels. I agree with the op though. Weed is okay in moderation but if you are working towards a career that could be stalled because of it then its best to abstain from it until you're where you wanna be in life or retired.

AMEN to that. Truer words have not been spoken. '' the system is set up to eliminate the people who question that system too much.'' SO TRUE brother. I struggle with this as well in my job and other areas. Good subject to post on a tread
