Great, now do the sales tax cost....

  • For a yacht.
  • For a $200,000 car.
  • For a private jet.
  • For a helicoptor.
  • For all the trips around the world.
  • For hotel stays.
  • For eating out constantly.
  • For heating and cooling mansions.
  • For extravagant parties.
  • For all the expenditures wealthy people do
THEN

Calculate how much extra labor would happen when people realized every dollar they earned wasn't taxed.

THEN

Understand how much extra wealth would exist because of that extra work being done.
Easy, I'll go to Russia or luxembourg.

Leaving empty all the properties in the usa.

The Canadian government just added a sale taxes on the riches...high property etc.

Guess what? The Riches moved to the USA :p and where there is no such thing as a "high commodities sale tax"...

Mansions worth 10millions $$$ are being rented to students so the rich landlord doesn't have to pay taxes :p on their unused assets.

The chinese immigrants moved to their eyes unto other territories to buy real estate that don't have "immigrant buying taxes"

In France, they did this taxes you talk about to the Rich... they moved their assets to Belgium,Luxembourg,Russia.

Who thought USA had become such a socialist country

Hahahaha he totally missed that part

User taxes are very good and they work for certain things. HOWEVER, I do believe there should be a small income tax, because you must have regulation, and government gives you that. Truth is always in the middle.

Strange.

You just said that the rich would benefit from just a sales tax.....

But NOW you are saying they would move to avoid it?!?!?!

Seems you cannot make up your mind on your position.....
No i didn't say that... I said it was in favor of the riches.

The sales taxes are more penalizing, negative to the Low Income brackets.

The Riches have more capacities, and they are more prone to act.

In short, they better at taking care of themselves.. They have better means to avoid negative outcome.

They are better off than the low income bracket but they wont like the sales task none-the-less and they'll do something about it (which they do!)

Corporations in the USA : Apple , Facebook etc.. .don't pay taxes at the federal.

Warren Buffet is less taxed than his personal secretary.
That's a loophole to solve.

In the 1920's Corporations were 80% of Federal Taxes... now its Individuals who are 80% of the Federal Taxes.

I hate taxes... income taxes is in my opinion better and more fair than a sales taxes, especially for lower income who faces challenges in increase of cost of living/inflation/raising taxes/incertain employment.

So Danger, you might think you'll be better of with no income taxes and just a sale taxes... sadly... it's not the case.

Beside people would buy more if they had a 15% (sale taxes) discount on everything ;) ... in the hope that prices dont increase

In favor of means it would benefit them.

Nobody could avoid a consumption tax, so the rich could not engineer ways around it like they do with income taxes.

I KNOW for a Fact we would be better off with sales tax over income tax, it is a simple economic fact.

The more you tax something, the less of it you get. By taxing income you actually are punishing wealth creation. This is bad for everyone.
By Taxing consumption with Sales Taxes ... the less you get... it's bad for consumerism ;)

Here's some sources:

http://www.taxhistory.org/Civilization/Documents/Sales/HST29008/hst29008.htm (USA 1942 Source!!!)

People will try to avoid taxations anyway!

I don't have any answers, I just hate taxes and the lousy crap we receive in return for them. Like this idea for a tax filing program.
You actually get a good bit in return.

Do you enjoy that freedom you get everyday? How about the Army? Nice to have them around too.

The most effective use of sales tax is to discourage certain behaviors, like cigarette smoking. Government policy in this area has been a big success. By making cigarettes too expensive, fewer people smoke.

There really ought to be a tax on high fructose corn syrup for contributing to the obesity epidemic, but our food supply is controlled by just a few large corporations who of course have enough money to fight being regulated.

So you want to tell people what to do? You want to discourage the behaviors YOU don't like?

Reason so many people quit smoking is folks were dying. Cigarette use is still rampant in the poor community. They don't give a f*ck about the cost.

What you are saying is not true at all. Look up the stats. Smoking drops every year. Vaping may have a lot to do with that as of late, and the verdict is still out on the long term health consequences of it, but we know for certain that smoking costs society money and secondhand smoke kills innocent people. Why should I have to pay for someone else's stupidity? We can't tax stupid, but taxing tobacco is close (so is lotto). People who smoke are either too dumb to care about themselves or too selfish to care about anyone else.

I agree with taxing stupid. I am a big fan of casinos and lotteries.

Yea the roads, schools, and medicine for grandma. Horrible things they are...
While I am on your side here, roads are not paid for out of income tax, most of the time. At least not federally. Schools are paid out of local property taxes.

Medicare, yes.

That’s not accurate. Funding for roads is highly subsidized with general funds. Schools are also subsidized with general funds depending on the state.

People would have more money to choose to spend on these things (or not spend) if government didn't tax their money coming and going, and fix prices.

If you don't believe me, try starting your own courier service at less than 55 cents per parcel.

But like I said, I don't have all the answers to these problems, nor will I spend my life fighting city hall. Just trying to get people to think outside the box. Inside the box is where they want you.
People would fail to adequately fund such things as roads and taking care of grandma. There’s a reason we have public funding; the private sector FAILED at such things in the past.

If things like this were left up to a vote, then major cities would get ALL the amenities and rural communities would get nothing. There HAS to be SOME distribution of the wealth, if nothing else, for simply connectivity.

Tea party nutjobs only have half a point when there is an illusion of socialism going on. Lib-tard idiots only have half a point when crony capitalism starts dominating the landscape. The right mix is in the middle, which is GENERALLY what we have now, though the average seems to be creeping left slowly but surely.

Where did the private sector fail at this?
It has not failed YET, but I firmly believe it would fail.

Private program management (at least in the transportation world) is good as an 'assisting' arm of the government, so the government does not have to permanently staff up, for certain projects. But when it's 100% controlled by private interests, that interest will take the place of the public good.

Certainly you have good government, bad government, good private companies, bad private companies. But you cannot deny that over time the private side WILL venture towards its own interest, while the government side MAY, and if so, only for a short time before the corruption is eliminated.

Middle ground fallacy.

Without cities, rural America would be completely deserted. Rural areas and states are in fact the leeches. The coasts + Chicago & Texas basically is the US economy, thus the source of funds.

Example: To leftists, capitalism is often considered a failure because of a wealth gap. They literally want everyone to be equal financially as a goal and a value.
Nope. That's a strawman argument.

Where did the private sector fail at this?
Infrastructure - complete collapse of the private rail industry.

Elderly -Before social security, elderly poverty was rampant. Capitalists would throw grandma off a cliff if they could get away with it.

Health care - the U.S. health care system sucks for everyone who isn't wealthy.

What happens, IN HER MIND, is that she comes to see you as WORTHLESS simply because she hasn't had to INVEST anything in you in order to get you or to keep you.

You were an interesting diversion while she had nothing else to do. But now that someone a little more valuable has come along, someone who expects her to treat him very well, she'll have no problem at all dropping you or demoting you to lowly "friendship" status.
