It's been about 3 weeks since I got my tattoo, the artist who did mine told me not to use soap because it would turn the tattoo really green or something. There's usually a 1 or 2 week healing period before the tattoo really settles to its normal state. I assumed that it'll only turn green if I used soap during the healing period, but I just want to make sure. So will my tattoo still deviate away from the color it is now if I use soap now?

you can use soap, it just can't have a bunch of fragrances and chemicals in it. I use plain antibacterial soap after tattoos. didn't they give you a guide to tattoo care afterward or anything? if it makes you feel better, just don't soap up your tattoo. go around it when you shower, as having one part of your body be only washed by water for a week or two won't kill you.

Not the people who did mine, he just told me to buy some A&D ointment and not to use soap if I don't want it to turn really really green.

I have a feeling it's not completely healed yet because it's still pealing. The guy who did mine was still kind of new to it (though since he was new he was willing to give me a big ass discount), but did a surprisingly good job. The piece covers most of my shoulder.

^^^Let the piece slough off naturally in the shower. DO NOT scrub it with soap or anything else. You can take the tip of your index finger and GENTLY massage the tatt whilst in the shower to expedite the sloughing. However, do not push it. If the tatt doesn't flake off under the gentle circular motion of your finger, then it's not ready. Go to the store and get some Vitamin A & D ointment and use accordingly.

Believe me, dude. Don't ever try to save money on a tatt. I mean, an artist has to learn his craft. But let him learn it on someone else. My two cents...

DONT USE A+D. Use Aquaphore. I have a great piece on my arm, and I used A+D for half the shading. Then When I went back for another session, my artist bytched at me for using it. I used aquaphore for the rest of it, and there is a noticable color difference. A+D has small amounts of a bleaching chemical. As for soap, the best thing to use is dial complete. It is antibacterial, hospital grade, with no unneccessary chemicals. I live next door to one of the best tattoo shops in the country. They know their shyt, and I've seen some of the best work ever, come out of there.

Also, I've NEVER seen anyones tat turn green. That guy needs more training.

Also, I've NEVER seen anyones tat turn green. That guy needs more training.

I know what he's talking about; most tattoos turn into a greenish color, not this kind of green.
