My cowboys lost last night. The back up qb was good but he could not handle the clutch. I want to see 49ers and panthers in the superbowl though.

I hear Megan Fox is cheering the panthers on.

I have to say I like the Colts in that one. Hopefully the 49ers make it an easy win. Wait is Drew Brees still on the Saints?

Why not Cam Newton...?
I don't think the Panthers are there yet, but it is good to see Cam get them into the playoffs for the first time. Two years ago, he was probably the best rookie qb in nfl history (Dan Marino had a great rookie year), and they still sucked as a team.

I'm not that sure they would have advanced in the playoffs, especially with Romo less than 100%.

Dallas needs to get Adrian Peterson.

And a new coach, IMO.

I all the way agree with that bro.

I picked SF over GB but I'm thinking it'll be close. Won't be surprised a bit to see GB win. IMO Rodgers is much more experienced and poised than Kaepernick.
This is something worth watching.

I think it's time that Brady passes the torch to Luck. It might be something that happens. Like a farewell to the game. You think Brady has any more seasons left? :nervous:

Chargers obviously have a tough one ahead of them, but they've got momentum with them, won their last 4 of the regular season. Sometimes these wild card teams all come together at the end of the season, and just barrel through somehow. Chargers have been favored in years past, only to blow it on a stupid play, or have to just not have luck on their side.

Maybe this is the year for them. :cheer:

Maybe.

I think SF is the most complete team, but Kaepernick is the "worst" passer of the remaining QBs. Not the worst QB necessarily because he can gallop all over the field. But as a passer he's behind the other guys.

Not sure of my picks yet, may wait til Thurs/Friday. But I can see Indy beating NE. I don't trust the Patriots this year at all.
Remember when Smith was on the SF team?

--SF defense made (S)cam Newton look very average.
In the first half, he made them look very average. Carolina is going to get better when they get Cam a decent receiver or two. I think FSU has better receivers than Carolina.

When games do a 180 at half time, that's the effect of good coaching. One side makes an adjustment, and the other coach does not make the correct changes to account for that adjustment.

It felt like there were three teams in that game. One of them was wearing stripes. I think the Panthers actually came in third place. I'm not saying it was one-sided, either. That penalty for roughing Cam in the second half where the D lineman spun around accidentally into him was just absurd.

I agree I think they have just the slightest edge because they are hosting. Blount needs to be controlled and Manning needs to not choke.

Not sure how Manning will be regarded.
Anything other than great would be crazy. He's not the best, but he's in the conversation. He's a preparation guy, not a clutch guy. There are places for both of those types. The vitriol towards Manning should go towards his offensive line, who got blown up all night long.

In my mind he is DEFINITELY not in the same league as Brady anymore.
Yet you say this:

I've personally never seen Brady as the "torchbearer" for NE. In my opinion, he's just another really good NE Patriot, much like Bradshaw was just another really good Steeler. Brady, in my mind, is an above-average passer who's extremely efficient and resilient but mainly he's been complimented by an array of solid-level offensive lineman, WR's and RB's over the past 10 + years (even though NE hasn't won a Super Bowl in nearly that long).
So does that mean you think Peyton Manning is a 3rd tier QB? Because you obviously think Tom Brady is a 2nd tier at best.

Tom Brady is one of the elites, along with Montana, Elway and Bradshaw. Manning is in the next group, which is much bigger but still very exclusive.

The last time I remember a blowout like this one, the 85 Bears were doing the Super Bowl Shuffle. But this Seattle team is not the 85 Bears, nor the Montana&Rice 92 49ers who had the other big blowout. This game was a blowout because one team did not show up at all. Manning wasn't sharp, but neither was anyone else on his team. Seattle was rushing four and still getting pressure on a short passing game that is mostly 3-step dropbacks. No team is going to win when they let that happen, regardless of who plays quarterback.

The present day Patriots would be 3-13 if not for Brady/Belichek.

The score and the game did kind of remind me of the 85 Bears Super Bowl..

What I find interesting is that a few days ago, people were talking about how Peyton Manning is the greatest quarterback of all time. Then after the Super Bowl, I turn on the TV this morning, and all the talking heads are saying that this damages his reputation, and how he can't even be considered top five anymore.

I don't really care about all that ranking QBs and such. But I do notice that people tend to over react to whatever is currently going on.

Peyton Manning underperforming in the playoffs has been going on for a long time. I, like most people, like the guy, both his play and personality, but I've made money off his choking for years now.

I think people wanted to believe this year. Hell, I want to believe.
