Suggestion: Remove post-count

I believe it would be best to disable the post count function on these forums, by having the post count enabled only creates problems. I will list a few of the problems with having post count enabled on this board:

1. People are tempted to post useless bull **** to increase there post count, which some believe, leads to respect and popularity on these message boards. The problem with this is that people may post bad advice, thousands of bumps, useless posts, etc, just for the sake of increasing post count. This is counter-productive.

2. People may be frightened of posting, because they don't want to be accused of being a person that i described in problem number 1, even if they DO have good input on the thread.

3. There may be a mis-direction of respect. When newbies arrive they feel like they have to put someone on a pedestal and look up to them as if they are god, all though they shouldnt, they still do. If they do this to people i described in number 1, then this could be disasterous to the boards.

Thanks for reading, I hope you consider my suggestion....

But post count SHOULD be linked to respect, as it shows who's been here a while, and therefore SHOULD know everything there is to know.

Yes, but there's long-time members like me who usually posts only in the Anything Else forum.

Back to my idea, don't count posts made in the Anything Else forum. Link post ratings to user ratings. Therefore, if you post a tip in the Don Juan Tips section, and 100 people rate it averaging out to 4 stars. The thread starter gets 4 stars. When he posts another tip, and 100 people rate it averaging out 2 stars. Then thread starter gets -2 stars. There's a better way to do it but if I described it nobody would understand.

I think Allen should try and make it like it was on the old (brown) board. All you see is the person's name and rank. If you were so interested in thier post count, you checked thier profile. That would eliminate some people looking right at the post count and saying "wow, look at all those posts! They know what they are talking about!" I didn't want to bring Pook up, but he has a lot influental posts, but he doesn't have a Wyldfire-esqe post count. Then you have people like Demon (no offense) who posts only in Anything Else, so of course his count is through the roof! Just my thought.

It doesn't matter how good-looking you are, how romantic you are, how funny you are... or anything else. If she doesn't have something INVESTED in you and the relationship, preferably quite a LOT invested, she'll dump you, without even the slightest hesitation, as soon as someone a little more "interesting" comes along.

I post elsewhere too and I do know what I'm talking about. If we had just name and rank (prefer custom title), I'd want to have a 50x50 avatar.

There are many alternative ideas and suggestions that can be linked to the post count function, but in short i believe it would be best to just remove it all together. People shouldn't be judged by how many posts they have made, they should be judged by the quality of their idea's.

Demon, perhaps you could do your best in attemting to describe your idea's to us? I believe we could evade any complicated side routes by just removing the post count all together.

The best decision in my oppinion would be too remove any traces of post count what so ever, seriously, there is no point in them. Respect on this board is completely irrelevant and all that really matters are the posts, not the posters. You will be able to tell if the posts good or not by the feedback it gets. Demon, we don't need what you suggested either, i think it would be best to just remove the post count, it would be simpler as well.

Don't always be the one putting yourself out for her. Don't always be the one putting all the effort and work into the relationship. Let her, and expect her, to treat you as well as you treat her, and to improve the quality of your life.

There's only one person who can put this into action and he has seen suggestions like these a lot, which means only one thing...

Well it would be nice if i could have an explenation as to why this suggestion should not be considered. :) It makes perfect sense to remove the post-count.

Never try to read a woman's mind. It is a scary place. Ignore her confusing signals and mixed messages. Assume she is interested in you and act accordingly.

If Demon's a God, then I'm God's God.

And I notice that most of the people in favor of removing post counts have itty-bitty post counts. As opposed to my massive, throbbing post count.

Seriously, I could care less either way.

Back to the original point of this thread...If people were so concerned about post count, everyone would go around saying "bump" a thousand times...I know that's going to lead to someone saying "bump" to this post...

If you want to talk, talk to your friends. If you want a girl to like you, listen to her, ask questions, and act like you are on the edge of your seat.
