Suggest improvements for IRC Messenger here

I'd like to complete the program and release it as fully functional. Before I do this, I am willing to take on requests and fix known bugs.

And secondly, are you man enough to enter the IRCM CHALLENGE? Can you design a better photo than that which appears on the first tab? ("Connection").

The best design will be included for the final release!

RULES: Photo must be 150x150 pixels. Photos must be uploaded to a location and a link provided for instant viewing. No more entries after 10th September.

And finally, are you so suave you think you can MODERATE THE CHANNEL? Post here with your name, real name and IRC experience details. People who disagree with your pitch can also respond in this same thread, and those who like you (and dream about you...etc) can also respond.

I don't see how my real name is relevant. And as far as my IRC experience, I was on IRC when it was pretty much a kiddie porn exchange. (it still COULD be for all I know)

I haven't download this IRC Messenger. Tell me, what can this program do that mIRC can't?

You know that you can make mIRC scripts, perl/python based, that can basically do all the things you listed, and people can use it in mIRC by downloading a small script file, and using the /load -rs FILENAME method, and it would be easy to configure and optimize it to the user's taste instead of sticky features.


It's all good, though.

IRC messenger is designed to be a non-bloated but capable IRC client. The best feature is that you can simply directly open the exe file and be connected to the IRC server immedietly. Clicking join will take you to the channel ready for talking. All you need is the exe file.

Unlike...

1) Download mIRC
2) Go through the setup process
3) Find the link to mIRC and click it to open the client
4) Open the setup window
5) Create a new server definition for irc.starchat.net
6) Join the server
7) When joined, enter the #donjuan channel
8) Face the occasional popup asking you to buy it

Have you seen the number of entries for the menus in most IRC clients? Good luck to the novice user trying to do simple things...

I am a professional software developer now (though I started IRCM before becoming one) and I thought I'd turn an instantly accessible live-chat channel into a reality. Thousands of people on sosuave are not IRC savvy.

Other features:

1) Quoting ... I have never seen an IRC client do it.
2) It's free!
3) It's specialized!
4) Simple status-change like msn.
5) "Op-thyself" feature (If you're an identified op, you can op yourself)

I'm not quite sure why I should be defending something I did for free - live with it!

Being "IRC-savvy" is not exactly a braggable trait to have.

im not sure if this had been mentioned already but the messenger icon should flash if some one posts somtinhg and the screen is not at the top of all the open screen, like what happens on msn, because sometimes you are signed in and not much is happening yet you have to keep looking back at the conversation to check if theres a new message.
