One of the best study tips I could give you: Listen to Classical Music. Yes, Bach, Tchaikovsky (One of my favorites), Strauss, all of those. Not only can it be very adventurous (Take Tchaikovsky's The Sleeping Beauty, for example), but it clears your mind more efficiently than almost anything else can. Just lay aside your rock music or your radio for 2 or 3 days and listen to anything by those guys, and you will see an improvement in your studying and memory.

The effects are so amazing, I actually listen to it while playing video games now. I die much less, I am more calm and collected with my fighting style, and I generally kick ass.

I'm going to try this. I am desperate.

Guys I'm not in high school anymore, actually completed a bachelors and a couple of masters now! Not to pat myself on the back.

But I wanted to relate to you a trick I used in high school to get good grades.

Myself and a few other students used to bet on who could beat the curve breaker. We had one kid that used to always get the highest grade in the class. So what we did was 3 or 4 of us would bet a buck or 2 and see if we beat the nerd. If nooone beat the nerd that week the money would rollover into the next test.

I won a few times in a row, not talking alot of money maybe $10 a test or so by the end, but it sure helped motivate me to study.

Now it's pretty obvious to say that you don't want to publicize the betting too much as i'm sure the teachers would frown on it.

Classical really helps. I can focus better because there are no lyrics! Beethoven's Pathetique Sonata all the way.:)

I'll have to go find my Beethoven CD... we have a huge stack of all of the classical artists, but so far I've stuck to Strauss, Tchaikovsky and Bach because I like them a lot. Might be time for a change, though. :)

I just read the first post ... and I think it's what a lot of people need to hear.
But it might be bad advice for people who already take school seriously.

There are some cases where studying simply doesn't help.
I wasted a lot of energy on battles that I could not win.
I took school a lot too seriously and neglected my social life
(ok ... since you are here this probably isn't your big problem or you are working on it!?)
I struggled all the time and still only got mediocre marks.

Guess kiz is on the right track. Try to be effective.
Find out what the best strategy is. Think about your situation.

In my case I was burned out at the crucial point.
I had to work for school but didn't have the energy.
I did graduate but I could have done a lot better.
I went to lessons but couldn't participate ... I couldn't write anything down at all ...
and the teachers thought I was lazy when I was actually suffering.

Now I have to (or may?) study again ... but I'm far from ever fulfilling my potential.
I still only sit there during the lessons. I can't do homework.
I do pretty well in tests but I don't study hard.
Learning from 0.00 - 5.00am when there's a test is all I can do these days ...
apart from visiting the lessons of course.
And no ... I don't waste time watching TV or playing games.
I have a lot of private projects that suffer as well.

What would I do differently if I had the chance?
- I'd question my habits.
- I would not try to organize anything. I just can't.
- I'd try to make learning fun.
- I'd try to be ahead of the class. You can do a research on almost any topic.
- I'd look for different resources and I'd try to find out what's essential.
- I'd try to get a social life in time. (Can't afford trying at the moment)

I know most people have other problems.
They should change their attitude and take school more seriously.
But organizing and doing the hw just won't work for some people.
They have to find a different strategy then. Ricky's advice is a good example.

I know quite a few people who had great marks but are pretty much wrecks now.

I did have some friends back then but I didn't improve my social skills.
Guess that is what DJing is all about. Not always staying in your comfort zone.
Think about what your life after high school will look like.
Make sure you don't depend on your pals too much.
Don't make plans to become a DJ after high school.
You should already be one then.

Find a balance between learning and living.

Well if I don't succeed in going to college I'll just get a grant from the government and start my own business and become self employed.
