I think he makes good points, but I think people make too big a deal out of this. I send my parents cards on mother and father's day. Sometimes send my mom flowers on mother's day. That's a made up holiday too, but they like it so I do it. Halloween is made up. It's a night to go out and party basically. Can't you party any night? Or did the costume industry make it up just so everyone goes out and buys a costume? If you aren't Irish, why celebrate St. Patrick's day, can't you just go out and get drunk any other night? People who aren't Mexican go out and celebrate Cinco de Mayo. See what I mean? I just don't see the big deal in isolating out Valentine's day only. People are too uptight over this.

Because valentines has more corporate greed attached to it than anyother nonreligious holiday. Watch some commercials on tv right now. Zales is telling you to buy this diamond and flowers.com saying you need that many roses so she knows you love her. Its this whole premise that if you don't go out and blow your life savings to show your appreciation of your woman you are a heartless bastard. I have never seen an influx of beer commercials right before St. Pat's.

I do find it kind of amusing that the holiday of love has turned itself into a giant corporate wh0re.

I luv this,I agree with this guy 100%. I don't know about the encouragment of others not to buy into the commericalism. People can be fools if they d@mn well please. :D

Don't always be the one putting yourself out for her. Don't always be the one putting all the effort and work into the relationship. Let her, and expect her, to treat you as well as you treat her, and to improve the quality of your life.

Too over commercialized. I would rather just let my girlfriend know i love her, give her flowers (picked from the garden) and make a nice dinner at home. :D
