Unless these data analysts were literally following these people everywhere in this time period, for me it's unreliable data because it relies on candidate truthfulness.

Yes, there is something called social desirability bias. Anonymous, online surveys tend to reduce this a bit but not fully eliminate it. It is still a lot that 26% of 18+ men are self-reporting no sex in the 12 months preceding the moment of being surveyed.
