start a political forum

Most people in this forum have an interest in politics, and would really like to have a discussion section devoted to political topics.

So why dont the mods create a political threads section? It without a doubt would not be a waste. It would be one of the best decisions ever made by the mods.

well, political topics still spring up on their own all by them selves every now and then on this forum. Obviously a political threads forum is just begging to be created. And no, it wouldnt make this forum hated. If any, it would make this forum more popular, which is a good thing.

Sure theres plenty of political forums out there, I could use those. But theres also plenty of health and fitness forums out there too, why dont we just scrap the health and fitness section, and "go to one of those other ones"? your argument back at ya.

The hate will spread out to other topics and the advice on this site will go down the drain. It will be like opening a pandora box and every user will just argue for the sake of arguing on every little detail the other person wrote just so they can prove them wrong. A healthy Don Juan who feels and looks good is a chick magnet. Discuss strength training, aerobic exercise, nutritional supplements, sports supplements or anything else designed to help you feel and look your very best. - Its related to being a DJ.

I don't see the politics board having the same effect.

If any, it would make this forum more popular, which is a good thing.

People come here to learn how to be a DJ or pick up women that is why there are many people on here and that is why its popular. If you want to go to a political site you can always google it and join there. Politics will divide the community not unite it. You will also attract more trolling and other elements who will come to this site just for the politics and ruin it. Every political topic after the first page has gone through a flame war and the war will infect other topics that has nothing to do with politics and the seduction advice will suffer.

I don't think you're arguing this fairly. It's like blaming walmart for putting mom and pop businesses, out of business. When walmart just sells stuff, and consumers choose shop there rather than at mom and pops. You're arguing outcome as what's important, rather than responsibility. There's plenty of trolling, arguing, flaming on the regular forums, should the other forums be deleted to get that troll, flaming, arguing outcome to disappear? Ofcourse not. The DJ philosophy advocates responsibility. The problem isn't that there shouldn't be a forum that may have some arguing/flamming/trolling, the problem is there is moderators and admins not doing their job.
Politics is a big part of peoples lives. We all pay taxes, we all have politicians doing things that effect our lives. And just because there are some out there that are completely apathetic to everything else in their life except trying to pick up women(Which I'm pretty sure goes against DJ philosophy), doesn't mean there shouldn't be one. All it is, is a forum. Like an abortion clinic, you may not like, but you don't have to actually go in and have an abortion. If you don't want to talk politics don't go in the forum. If flaming and trolling moves into the other forums(Which I don't agree with, I think it's a convenient thing to blame), just put these people on the ignore list.

This isn't a particularly politically savy group. I don't know about what's going on in Washington everyday and I doubt people coming here to learn how to chat up girls know either. From time to time I like to start threads that make people aware of issues in our lives but as far as debating about who should be the next President or Attorney General, save that stuff for the Bill O'Reilly forum.

okay, so there are many arguments saying why we shouldnt create a political forum:

1. THere are many political forums out there, why create one here when you can just go there:

my response: well, theres many health and fitness forums out there too, so maybe we should just scrap the health and fitness since we can "go else where for that". this nulls that argument.

2. All political threads result in flamming, and will only divide the forum.

my response: If there is flamming, its not the threads fualt. Its the irresponsible posters fualt. Solving this is very simple: make it a rule that if you start flamming, you get banned. Eventually, all trolls/flammers will be banned, and nothing but responsible and mature people left having good clean political discussions. I watch The news all the time, gee, its kind of weird how they have political discussions all the time, yet no flamming ever occurs. HOLY SH!T, its not the political nature of the thread that causes the flamming, but the certain people who take part in such threads! Besides, flamming occurs in non-political threads on here too, does this mean we need to stop all don juan threads, because those bring out flame wars too? Maybe we should just close this entire website down, becuase flamming will occur in any kind of thread?

3. Political forum will only attract people who only want to discuss politics and not people interested in being a DJ.

My response: well, the health and fitness forum hasnt attracted health nuts who only come here to discuss ONLY health and fitness, so why should we expect the same for a board based on another non-DJ topic? Obviously, only people interested in DJ discussion will even come to this website. ANyone ONLY interested in political discussion or ONLY health and fitness discussion will get turned off by the DJ nature of this website and leave. THey will go to a pure political discussion/pure health discussion website instead that does not have that DJ nature that turns them off. Health and fitness and politics are just bonuses for the DJ's on here to discuss. NO one is actually comming here JUST to discuss those things.
