Imagine this scene: You're in a bar for a quick drink on the way home. Suddenly, you notice that you're being watched. Two women stand within earshot of you. One of them is an easy 9, and her friend is a 7, probably there to make the 9 look even more appealing. One question pops into your mind in an instant - "Which one would I like to get a bit of DJ action from?"
Odds are, you chose the 9.
Fair enough, as a DJ you're entitled to the best of the pick, and I'm sure that you'd be eager to cash in on that entitlement.
But wait - are you looking at the full picture here?
Go back to the above scenario: That 9, as appealing as she might be, is expecting you to give her the attention. That's a big reason why she has that friend of hers with her - to boost her appeal to you, and show off to her friend. This practically gives her most of the power. When she notices that you're concentrating on her, then she'll likely have fun with that.
But it doesn't end there. As you go up the Babe-scale (1 to 10), you typically get better and better in the looks department, but you also get higher in the egotism of the babe. What happens is, the hotter the babe, the more she knows it - and the more she'll flaunt it in your face. It also means that she (for some bizarre reason) thinks she is more entitled to do whatever she wants most of the time.
Now, go back to that little scenario, and imagine this: You approach this pair, and you say to the 9:
You:"Hey, care to dance?"
Her(Option 1):"Sure."
You:"Good, go dance while I talk to your friend."
Her(Option 2):"Nah."
You:"Great, then you won't mind if I take your friend for a dance."
I bet she didn't see THAT one coming. This simple trick often leaves her completely stunned and wondering Why not ME? It immediately boots her off her own pedestal and gets her curiosity in you rising. Now, you're in a good position to make a play on this disillusioned babe later on.
Alternatively...
Let's not rule out that 7 just yet. Although she's not as attractive as any 9, she does have one advantage. Ever wonder why you see some guys (who you can admit are fairly handsome) with babes that are clearly less than what he could get himself?
Remember that point I made above about "The more attractive the babe, the more egotistic she is"? Well, the opposite generally goes for the less attractive women. You'd be amazed at some of the things they're willing to do with you, should you suggest it. And lets not forget that a 7 is often a much simpler target to "hit" than a 9.
The moral of the post: Don't sacrifice your standards, but be aware of what you could be missing out on...
