If you are so concerned about finding a single exercise that will work every single muscle group and gain mass, then f*ck it...do the clean and jerk from now on.

I agree totally with that - everyone is different but NO-ONE can go wrong by basing their routine around a bench, squat and deadlift variation. Don't exclude any of the three unless you have injury issues.
