lol Atom Smasher I think we're being a little tough on this young man here.

He has already paid a huge price for his first offense, and his second offense was not a serious one. Jail time would be too disproportionate a punishment for the crime, especially when considering no one was actually even threatened with harm.

AJ is a bright young man, who isn't involved in drugs or gangs (obvious from all his posts here on SS) and has no prior convictions other than the August 2011 driving offense which is the topic of this debate. If you look at his posts on SS, he has done nothing but try to help others better themselves, and avoids being lured into flame wars by other more aggressive posters. And on top of all this, he's about to finish his MBA, so throwing him in jail at this point would only destroy everything he has worked hard for all his life.

I think ordering him to pay the $300 fine and attend the weekend class, where he can watch the video you recommended, would be more than enough punishment for him. I believe we won't be seeing him in our court room any more.

I like to be tough on crime just like anyone else here, but sometimes we have to know when to give a young man a second or sometimes even a third chance. No one was injured, and no one was even threatened with the prospect of harm. And as serious as his transgression is, throwing AJ in jail at this point would only help destroy his life rather than rehabilitate him.

Judge Nismo, we await your response.
My response is quite simple. If you can't do the time or pay the fine, don't do the crime.

Georgia cops don't play that speeding sh*t. Especially that Super Speeder law. If it was a city that got you, you're in deep sh*t because they're not gonna let you go. The county police tends to give more lee-way.

I respect the OP's drive (not the speeding), ambition, and his advice here, but if he wants to get off, get a traffic lawyer. But even then, you're most likely on video. Or just hope the officer who got you doesn't show up.

Losing 300 bucks is a great way to end up sorry as a working man trying to come up. Not to mention higher insurance. I hope you don't end up going before a misandric judge if you decide to fight this.

My verdict is to pay the fine and don't do this sh*t any goddamn more. You could've hurt yourself or caused a death. I'm just upset that the OP decides to have a little highway thrill by speeding. There's a lesson to be learned. You ain't impressing nobody. It's not gonna get you anything but a hurt wallet.

Case closed.
