I do not know the specifics, but I personally know two people have used the south beach diet with some success. If you are looking for a diet I would highly recommend looking into Lyle Mcdonald's Ultimate Diet 2.0, it works very well. Goodluck.
My dad's on the south beach diet right now. I've seen decent immprovement in him but I think it's a long term commitment.
The diet consists of a LOT of vegetables, dairy and protein with NO carbs the first 2 weeks and minimal carbs for the month following that. Fruit and anything remotely starchy are big no-no's. No beer either.
However if you've got a wide taste in vegetables and meat you just might like it. Afterall my dad does get to eat bacon and eggs every morning.
