Hate to tell you but stretching them out and bearing the pain is the best and possibly only way to make the pain go away.

i read in the farmers almanac 2006 edition:
to soothe discomfort of a strained muscle, rub an ointment made of common fish bait to the swollen area.

i love these old cures!

1. Get used to it. Without wanting to sound overly macho or anything, 'no pain, no gain' is the maxim here. Sore muscles implies that you've damaged them enough to scare them into growing, so that's a good thing. (if you rode a bike for 3 hours straight then this doesn't apply, you're gonna as sore as hell but don't expect to grow from it - if however you just broke a PR in weight or reps at a particular compound exercise then pat yourself on the back and go feed your new strength gain)

2. Stretching, painful as it is, greatly reduces DOMS (but don't expect to deadlift 500lbs and NOT feel like a truck hit you the next day, even if you DC lat-stretched with a 50lb dumbbell for 3 minutes)

3. Proper food intake can help relieve soreness more quickly. I've been guilty of undereating the past coupla days, and my quads are reminding me of it.

4. Hot baths and/or showers.
