Somebody insults your girl in front of you

I've had this happen to me once, when a guy commended on my girl's breasts "Wow they are really big huh" and walked away and I didn't hear it since I was busy with my phone. I saw that she was emotionally hurt so I asked her what's up. She told me about what he did, and I was really pissed. She said that the guy is a criminal and I shouldn't do anything about it, just ignore.

What would you guys do? What if you were outnumbered?

No rambo comments please, I can kick the ass of most of the people I know but usually I avoid fights.

I'll be honest with you, I'd have just left it. There's nothing manly about ending up in hospital with injuries or worse dead.

I believe in Karma so the man in question will get what's coming to him, but it wouldn't come from me.

If at all it can be avoided just avoid it. Words are words who cares what some dude says. Now if he touches her that's a different story. But a comment on nice boobs is just a compliment really.

These things always have the element of provocation to some point. So you really can't go physical so easily. Tell her a$$ to cover up dude, or take her to better places.

I'm a keen boxer so I can't get into bar fights, it's too easy. Guys are pansies. They all talk the talk but when the sh1t comes down, they're all windmills and stars. Idiots. I ignore them as much as possible or I'd get annihilated by my trainer. Plus, it really depends on how long you've been with the said chick. If she's a long term thing, then I'd ask her how she feels and then show empathy.

If a guy does it in front of you, mo fo gets a talking to. I've been with hot chicks and guys are still coming over. Most guys look at me and back off but a quick eyeball is enough to show you don't give a fvck. Helps if you know how to fight. If you don't, leave it alone. There are tons of guys who intentionally go out looking for fights. These guys are usually just angry. Not trained.

Guys who are drinking tho are usually just f@nnies.

Thanks Don-King. However it's easier to come up with a response like that when you have to time to think about it, and you're doing it objectively. That's why in situations like this it's important to keep a cool head. Her emotions may be all over the place, so you need to be the one who can bring her back to a positive state. Instead of elevating her negative emotions, flip them, and turn them into positive emotions. It's not always easy, but if you can do it, IMO you've one of the keys in keeping and maintaining positive, healthy relationships.

We've all done this at one time or another but we don't always recognize what we're doing, or more importantly, when to do it.

No, it's not. People get hurt emotionally for all sorts of silly reasons. There's a reason why you are not (legally) allowed to attack someone over a verbal insult. Personally, i would just smirk or laugh at a comment like that. It's not even an insult...just a stupid statement by a stupid person.

every situation is different.

i just call other guys out on it. its really simple. you never turn yourself into the aggressor. in this case you didnt hear and looking for trouble after the fact is pointless. but when its clearly right in front of me and some dude tries to say something slick to a girl im clearly with like im not even there, i take it personal.

in your case, if i woulda heard that remark a simple retort "get a good look so you got something to jerk it to later"

if he responds you just stay cool and treat em like the dweebs they really are. you stand your ground and if it gets heated you tell them to come and get it. the reason you do this is because most guys fold when it really comes down to it. trust me on this, its happened more than a handful of times to me. it also doesnt hurt to have been in fights and be able to hold your own

This is probably the best advice so far. A simple, smart response doesn't hurt anything and doesn't necessarily escalate the situation, if done properly. Makes said dude look like a jack@ss. If it's a club/bar setting and the jack@ss is still suffering from big-**** syndrome, then scrap. Security will break it up before anyone really gets hurt... and you don't look like a pansy by not holding ground. This goes beyond being a bigger person, blatant disrespect needs to be addressed.

We have a local college student in a coma after a stupid altercation outside a bar, the first punch knocked him down and his assailant kicked him in the head repeatedly. Don't underestimate how quickly fights escalate and how fragile the human body is. It's not like in the movies..

Ask yourself, what would be more embarrassing: letting a borderline derogatory comment roll off your back, or getting beat up infront of your girlfriend?

RE. the comment though, I wouldn't be able to help myself but reply, no matter who they are... a few examples that occur to me off the cuff:

-'Well they aren't quite as huge as your girlfriend's a-hole/vag; sh!t man you could accommodate a homeless in that cavernous space' - be ready to avoid the ensuing hay-maker, from him.

-'Mmm. I'm going to enjoy sucking on them presently' - be ready to avoid the ensuing hay-maker, from her.

-'You think they're huge, you should see the size of my c0ck' - every one falls about laughing, especially her as she appreciates your witty sense of irony (at least in my case).

That's why you make it dramatic and tackle the jack@ss to the floor. Can't really get hurt down there. Plus, it looks more exciting and dramatic and will attract more security attention to diffuse the situation faster. Hold your ground, be a man, but be smart.
