I'm going to get right to it.
I walked her home, HB 8/10 shall we say. Talked, got her laughing. I know her from a few months back. Never really talked to her, so this was basically our first real meeting.
Strangely, when I asked for her number, she recited it to me like a thoughtless reflex. This was outside her house.
I turn up at the place where she works (retail store, sells groceries, lots of people around), approach her, talk briefly, request a date not too deeply into the conversation:
A: You fancy going for a drink next Thursday?
HB: Thursday? Yes. (very quick answer - another reflex)
A: Ok. It'll probably be about 8ish.
HB: Sure, just ring me or something.
A: Sure. Cya.
Done and done. Her expression was, neutral. It confused me. She wasn't overly positive, but she agreed to the date without hesitation. This was only the start though.
I rang her, her phone (a cell phone) was off. Rang again, and again. Constantly. Off. At first I thought she had given me a fake number, setting the date with the fact I wouldn't be able to contact her in mind.
Her friends, most of whom I know, tell me it doesn't work for them either. They also tell me she doesn't have a home phone.
Strange.
So anyway, Thursday came and went. I went to her house a few hours before 8, met her little Sister, told her to tell the HB that I'd be round later to pick her up. Little girl was helpful.
I turn up. HB is not there. I have been stood up.
I see her sister again, the next day somewhere else and she tells me the HB, when she finally came in, "didn't know who I was" when they mentioned my name. Ouch. She also confirmed that they didn't have a home phone, but the HB had a mobile.
I'm pissed. I'm really pissed.
I let it go for a few days.
I saw her at work again, same time, same day:
A: Forget something?
HB: *Blank expression*
A: Thursday.
HB: Oh, ****!
A: Indeed.
A: I did call round, but you were out.
HB: Yeah, I got back about midnight.
A: Oh, right. Well, I went out with my friends in the end (a lie).
HB: Oh, I see.
A: Shall we try this again.
HB: *Blank expression*
A: When do you get off?
HB: Now, but we have a meeting after this.
A: I'm busy tonight and tomorrow, but am free Monday.
HB: Yeah sure, just ring me or something.
A: You're mobile doesn't work and you don't have a home phone.
HB: Yeah...I need to get it fixed. I'm getting it fixed on Monday.
A: I'll call you then. Cya around.
HB: Bye.
I left even more pissed off. I felt that she'd just told me a pack of lies. What magical cell phone shop does same day repairs? Was she being naive or stringing me on further? I guessed the latter.
It's now Monday. Her phone still doesn't work. I considered calling round her house, but left it.
She makes a date, then goes out and does something else the same night. She makes it again, and then doesn't get her phone "fixed". Hah. What a load of crap.
I had thought that since there was almost a week between setting the date, and the actual time, me not ringing her and her downright naivity could have been the reason it all ****ed up. But then I think, you judge women on their ACTIONS, not their WORDS. Her words are saying yes yes yes, but the actions are saying the complete, miserable opposite.
I don't care anymore. If she'd just told me no, that she had a boyfriend, that she wasn't interested or anything like that I would have been happier. Now I'm getting stressed. I have a headache. She's getting to me.
I don't want to forget about it with some sort of closure. I couldn't give a **** what happens. I just don't want this "what if" feeling. All I can think of is calling round there when she's home and setting the record straight. But knowing me, that's proabably the wrong course of action.
What. Should. I. Do?
