I have finally come back from a soccer injury about a year ago and now I wanted to dedicate myself to working out. But I'm not sure which way to go whether it's the brad pitt from fightclub look
or pro wrestler like dave batista

Now I not naive I know that I will not look like either if i tried to go one way or the other but I'm curious as what to aim for my own version of them I just wanted to know who do you think looks better and which do you think girls prefer?

I'd go for the wrestler look. Brad pitt in that pic just looks skinny.

These examples are on opposite ends of the spectrum; one guy is skinny, the other is huge. The difference? Being huge will earn you respect.

Actually, working out.. and achieving either body shapes will not allow you to shop in a normal place.

Quick example: I cannot buy suit together in a set, (jackets' shoulder width fit, pants too big). And also, only the shoulders bit of the Jacket will fit, but the mid section, will be absurdly flabby.

This is because the department stores caters to the average spare-tire carrying ppl that is the majority of our society.

I'm now have to be on the look out for tailor made suits... which cost more than all my protein shakes in a year. lol.

thanks MrS.

Either look should be money. I'm similar in build to the top pic right now, but unfortunately, my ribs and hipbones poke WAAAY out due to my growing up obese and having been 105 lbs heavier, at age 16. So, I need to gain some weight to keep the hipbones from looking Dachau-ish

I think this one is the best http://www.socalworkout.com/wpblog/wp-content/uploads/2007/06/155113__machinist_l.jpg

Ok maybe not but I think both will get you a lot of attention but different types of girls. I think the Brad Pitt look is better because the other buff ones makes you look like you spend all day at the gym and are a muscle head. But a lot of muscle heads do get hot girls though but usually dumb ones. Plus I know a lot of girls that think the bodybuilder type body looks gross. I agree.
I would want to look like Edward Norton in American History X. He's buff but not too much and has lean muscle but I would like a six pack.

But I would say from what I have heard from woman that they like the swimmer type body the most.

i watched something on this... where they tested womans brains when looking at different guys, and found when talking about sex and such - their brainwaves responded the most to big muscular body type... but when talking about who they wanted to spend their life with - their brain responded most to the 180 and fit body type...

i have heard many woman say that brad pitt (who i think was 160 for that movie) in that movie is unbelievably sexy... as well as a group discussion among about 10 woman and all of them said - the guys in the 300 made them want to have sex (which are closer to the 180 and fit)... but all those movies have in common is aggresion and violence - which woman are attracted to in the first place...

Never try to read a woman's mind. It is a scary place. Ignore her confusing signals and mixed messages. Assume she is interested in you and act accordingly.

quite frankly guys, you are never going to get big enough to be 'too big'.

there is not one of you on this thread (or probably this forum) who has the genetics to become Batista-like without doing a LOT of steroids - and probably not even then. these physiques are just NOT obtainable by the majority of guys.

the main thing is to be comfortable in your own skin, whether that's skinny, fat, muscular, whatever. the minute you stop working out because of the way you want people/women to perceive you and start training for YOURSELF is when your gains will accelerate.

whatever you look like, you can't please everyone - if you are big women who don't like big men won't like you, if you are small women who don't like small men won't like you - make your body a shape YOU are happy with (and which is realistic of course). you will always alienate SOME people and on the flipside, attract others, who, had you looked different, would not be attracted to you and vice versa.

hell for most of you, being 180 and lean is going to be tough enough. we can't all be like Quagmire and get ripped on the 'cider and buttons' diet :D

^ Yeah to add to the point about Batista - He defintely does steroids. Right after the Chris Benoit incident, the WWE did a huge crackdown on steroids. And to no ones surprise - over half their locker room shrunk in size (that masterlock guy was the most noticeable steroid shrink i've ever seen in my life).

To look like that - you will almost have to mix yourself into the world of Steroids.

The Brad Pitt look is more obtainable... but i've had the Brad Pitt look for a while now, and can say - that woman really don't notice that you look like that unless you go around parading your body with it's shirt off... you will look like a normal skinny guy with clothes on (hence why i'm in the process of bulking up).

hahahaha. Yeah I know alex which is why i said Im not naive and know that the batista look isnt something people can attain but it was only an example of a big defined guy. i couldnt think of anyone else.

and bukowski has being ripped helped you at all or its only helped when summertime comes. cause im in the process of bulking up while mainting my fat down but I have pretty good definition and i know a month or two dieting tops I can get ripped but at the same time It would be wasting time where I could have gotten bigger instead of being lean and ripped. i guess i just wanna know your experience as bein ripped.

but from what i know when mindovermatter was here he was ripped and wasnt satisfied with it and got bigger soo im guessing being lean and ripped has some disadvantages im not aware of

If I see that picture of that deformed looking freak Brad Pitt one more time I am going to puke. Go watch some Rocky movies...that's a nice body at a low weight. Apollo Creed is also a titan of a man. Personally Rocky IV and Rocky Balboa is Sly's best bodies

well... first let me post some pictures so you know exactly what kind of body i have/had:

note: i've worked out for about a year. i decided to bulk up 2 months ago, and started at 159. and have gradually lost some of my toneness/rippedness... i have no pictures of what i looked like at 159 with my shirt off but it was slightly toner than you see in the pics...

this is me at 163:

this is me at 166:

how has my body helped me? i wouldn't say much at all. because the reality is - every woman who has seen my body over the last year has stated how sexy it was. has also expressed their surprise that i have a nice body. why? it doesn't show when i'm wearing clothes. and by the time a woman is seeing my body - i most likely am already getting what i want from her anyway. maybe it'll help her be more attracted to me in the long run, but it doesn't do anything if i'm clothed and trying to attract new woman... which is why i decided to bulk up (i'm at 169 today)...

a guy who's 180+ lbs. with muscles defintely can show them off better when clothed. in fact i would imagine a lot of 180+ guys with XSmall Shirts on who never work out would look like they work out more than me clothed.

Although I don't believe that a guy has got to be big to look strong, who says that you have to be "skinny to be defined"? Why not a good, healthy weight with good definition?

one thing is for sure - anyone who tells someone to "go for x physique" obviously has no idea how much hard work, consistency and TIME will go into achieving in a mildly conditioned physique a la the calvin klein model look unless your genetics are inclined that way and give you a headstart.

once you've trained for a few years you'll be a lot more appreciative of your own body and what it can do and what it can do - people saying "I want to look like xxx" are most generally beginners. and while it's great to have a target and role model you really have to make all your expectations in the context of YOUR capabilities - which you won't have that much of an idea of until you've trained and ate properly for a while

Not really. Some people set their goal as so so, hang it up on the wall next to their mirror, and look at it for about 2 years.

I don't have a calvin klein body yet, but I gained about 30 lbs of LBM in a span of 2 years on a 5 7' frame. (starting at a mere 110 lbs.) I coudn't even lift the barbell for the bench press when I started.

Plus, I know how much time yada yada it takes. I literally spent the whole summer in my apartment just eating, training, and studying. I had to reject going out drinking with my friends most of the time. I lost touch with ALL of my high school friends. Beside the people I live with now, I am only "close" to 2-3 other people in my new college. The rest are gone.
