Mad Manic, do you work out to get stronger, or to impress the people around you?

From my experience, powerlifting is the way to go to gain strength..good usable "throw-some-weight-around" strength.

It sounds like you want club muscle, to look good first.

Regardless, everyone is training for different reasons, IMO, as long as you are training for something, you are OK in my book.
Mainly to look good but I'm interested in strength as well, I do a lot of low reps and make upping the weight a priority. It's condusive for mass building in the long-run anyway and it's good to shift heavy weight. As I said, my sessions always include a mix of low, med and high reps.

I don't agree with part f, I don't know any powerlifters gave BBing a whirl, cut up for a show and won it as he claims. There may be a few BBers who did some powerlifting in their time but mostly BBing when taking it serious as a pro. The article still doesn't say anything new, it still says we need to get stronger and eat above maintenance. Infact, he's agreeing with me, by saying strength gains are important and not absolute strength, along with appropriate rep ranges for goals. Case closed. And in BBing you lift heavy and often low reps.

Mad Maniac, could you post a sample bodybuilding routine? When I think of bodybilding routine, it might be alot different than yourperception of a bodybuilding routine, cause in my oppinion - alot of different methods build muscle.

When I talk about powerlifting routines, I'm not talking strictly 1-5 reps. It includes both low and high rep work. But with the principle that you get freaky strong and size will come if you eat enough to grow. As in the example of benching 400 lbs for eight reps will put alot more mass on your chest than benching 200 lbs for eight reps.
