I always go for it. They soo love it. In fact i have no problem being quite physical in public.

I recall once back when i was still pushing boundaries to find my niche, a girl at my workplace was complaining that she was sore from moving patio stones earlier.I really didn't know her that well, but even so, without question during the conversation i move in and give her a nice shoulder rub as we're walking. She obviously enjoys it and as soon as i'm done i keep one hand on her shoulder, and with teh other i give that tush a nice playful smack and go "Next time i won't be so nice."

She walked away with a SMILE a mile wide.

Really it depends on the situation. It's so normal for me now it's not something i consciously think about doing. Ass spanking is something i only ever do with girls i trust a bit more. (or hoes, but that's a whole different story)

However... i wasn't like that before. When i first started pushing the kino, i started with handshakes, shoulder squeezes, poking, faking picking something off her face, tickling... etc... over time, it just became natural to see "ins" where you could move in, do something, then move out before it gets awkward.

Example: walking up to her from behind, put your arm around her and give her shoulder a squeeze as you announce your presence.

A personal thing i do is sneak up on people. Say what you will, but i'm very metal gear solid when i know someone doesn't know i'm there. So i'll sneak up to them, stand right next to them, tap the opposite shoulder, then when they look and see no one, start talking and give them a playful poke or punch. They'll likely fight back playfully, and ta-da, after a little sparring match, give her a hug and continue like normal.

I recall giving a drunken date of mine a footrub in a taxi once too. That was a little strange.

As you get used to it, it becomes more and more natural the kinds of movements you do.
