You never hear these on the radio or anywhere.
I was watchin a surfin video and they had a ska song on there so i finally remembered the genre.

The only band ive really heard in the past was this christian band called "The O.C. Supertones" ... actually ive also heard "The mighty mighty bosstones" cuz they had that one hit lol.

Anyways, i think ska is pretty cool and upbeat, but i dont know any good bands... or any bands at all for that matter. Could any of yall point me out to some?

Less Than Jake has a ska song called Best Wishes to Your Black Lung on their Anthem CD. The funny thing is I was listening to this exact song when I saw your thread. The rest of the CD is great too so you won't be disappointed.

Listen to Reel Big Fish or Suburban Legends for kickarse upbeat ska.

Also Mad Caddies play a cool brand of punk-ska

doesnt have ska essentials

secondly, maybe you should read what you just posted

RELATED STYLES

RELATED STYLES

RELATED STYLES............ the key word is RELATED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! This is not the style of Smash Mouth

Its saying, ok smash mouth is so and so tsyle ( rock or w/e) ... and there are styles related to rock like classic rock, punk rock, ska rock, etc...

besides the fact that you just proved yourself wrong, trust me, SMASH MOUTh is NOT ska.

i dont hear any offbeat strumming, trumpets, trombones, along with the regular band parts such as distorted electric guitar

Most of the popular bands out there considered "ska" are really more punk/ska, or whatever. I would not consider Smash Mouth real ska.

Good ska bands are bands like Hepcat or The Slackers. Now that's ska.
