it does sound like he made it up. there's no scientific evidence, even if the statements are believable.

actually they all are ridiculous.

1) aerobic exercise cannot plateau because there is nothing gained from it, only calories burnt / fat loss. it is impossible for your body to not be burning calories from any exercise.
2) if aerobic exercise made you slower, then how do sports which require speed, football, rugby, american football, players maintain their speed.
3) age determines metabolism, not the other way round
4) this is from physical stress, if you are physically stressed you are pushing too hard.
5) exercise releases endorphins which makes you feel happy. if you are feeling stressed from exercise, you are pushing yourself too hard.
6) ...? random, wheres the proof

Peace and Quiet

If you currently have too many women chasing you, calling you, harassing you, knocking on your door at 2 o'clock in the morning... then I have the simple solution for you.

Just read my free ebook 22 Rules for Massive Success With Women and do the opposite of what I recommend.

This will quickly drive all women away from you.

And you will be able to relax and to live your life in peace and quiet.

Charles Poliquin is known for having come up with complete bullsh*t in the past. For example, he claimed that Ben Johnson squatted 3RM before his race in Seoul. The problem is that there were no weights in the warm up area in Seoul.

one problem with that thesis, poliquin didn't write the article. Next!

any exercise of any type, if it sufficiently stimulates the appetite, will cause the exerciser to eat more calories than burned, especially if the individual's diet is otherwise already out of control.

2) if aerobic exercise made you slower, then how do sports which require speed, football, rugby, american football, players maintain their speed.
each of these involves much more interval running than continuous distance running, particularly american football. even a long run or pass play's length is measured seconds and is by definition nearly always less than 100 yards.

3) age determines metabolism, not the other way round
age does not determine metabolism. aging (measured in years) generally contributes to a slower metabolism unless you take steps to counter this. aging (measured in damage to the body) accumulates from a number of different factors. he is speculatively proposing that oxidation from free radicals is a factor in this. he's hardly the only person to suggest this.

4) this is from physical stress, if you are physically stressed you are pushing too hard.
exactly. but can any of us, a priori, say how much is "too hard"? clearly, a posteriori, if you're working hard & not seeing results, you're probably working too hard ("overtraining"). but you may be working too hard relative to some other factor (say, caloric intake).

5) exercise releases endorphins which makes you feel happy. if you are feeling stressed from exercise, you are pushing yourself too hard.
if exercise always made people happy, everyone would exercise. does that mean that most people who exercise (and eventually quit) are (were) pushing themselves too hard?

6) ...? random, wheres the proof
try the interval training he describes in "Part 2"...that will be your proof. plenty of evidence supports the idea that interval training is superior to steady state cardio.

Sports that are performed in intervals should be trained with intervals.

Training your one mile run is stupid if you are training for football.

One mile run isn't strictly aerobic if you do in 5 minutes, mrRuckus.
Now your 5km time, sure.

Aerobic work isn't optimal, but it's not bad. Think of nearly all the old school boxers, and hell, half of todays at least - all the greats used to go for long early morning runs, which is "bad" for all sorts of reasons but it worked for them, so!
