So my question is:
Would wishing someone a Happy Valentines Day sink the ship?

Coz I've read all them articles about lose lips sink ships, never confess to a girl you like her, blah blah blah. BUT! Giving a girl a call and simple saying, "Happy Valentines day", would that tell her I like her and weird her out? I dunno. Was planning on doing nothing. Shes still in school, I'm finished. But my sis came home and said, "So did you do anything for Sarah?"
Me: "Nope"
Sis: "Ohh not a good move, gotta do something".
Wouldn't it be all weird? Spose depends on the situation, but generally speaking?

Cheers thanks for the help

Personally I think that if you like the girl, she would probably have felt some of those vibes by now, so calling her and saying happy valentines to her wouldn't really blow your cover (that you like her) , it would probably show that you care and could possibly win yourselves some points? but getting her something would be different as you would need planning and since she is not your valentine, it wouldn't be necessary to get gifts. Thats just my 2 cents on the situation, correct me if I'm wrong.

oh well, with a 1.7mil population in Brisbane, there are bound to be more easy pickings :D

What happens, IN HER MIND, is that she comes to see you as WORTHLESS simply because she hasn't had to INVEST anything in you in order to get you or to keep you.

You were an interesting diversion while she had nothing else to do. But now that someone a little more valuable has come along, someone who expects her to treat him very well, she'll have no problem at all dropping you or demoting you to lowly "friendship" status.

Her: Hello?
Me: Heyyy, happy valentines day.
Her: ...you too.
Me: mmm...
[pause]
Me: Soooo...

She was doing some heavy homework. Quite possibly I disrupted her workflow.
Bah! And I thought chicks appreciated this crap.
It's not like we don't get along. We went to the formal together, we kino each other frequently, she invited me to camp with her about a month ago, our group of friends are quite positive she's into me and tell me frequently to, "hurry up and ask her out". Never fear Captain Procrastination is here! So maybe I waited too long. Phone call wasn't all that bad, lasted for 18mins. My guess is she was tired, yeah.... I'll go with that.

I would never ring someone to say Happy Valentines day.....Its not a big celebrational day. You would have been better dropping her a card or rose......

The city that sleeps. Sometimes.
hmm interesting thread.

I *almost* wanted to make some sort of a nice gesture for my oneitis (who has a boyfriend lol) but then decided no way. AFC move.

I'd rather let her wonder about whether I like her or not. In fact, I am 100% sure that her boyfriend is not going to do sh!t for her, but her many admirers that are constantly chasing her will do stupid crap like send her flowers. I don't wanna be one of those dudes. I wanna be one of the guys she chases instead.

I'm with Egoist on this.

I have several prospects that I'm not doing anything for Valentines. Why? I'll let them figure out why. Am I busy? Who am I with? What are they doing? I bet the V-day sex he's having is hot. Whatever little fantasies these women will cook up in their head will have more/better effect than anything I could buy/do/say for on Valentine's Day.
