Get better/more sleep. It's fallin-off-a-log simple I know ,but if you are not, do it. Your interest in others will be more genuine if you are not in a state of being tired. Also the body language and overall demeanor/appearance of a tired person is VERY hard to hide, redness in eyes will particularly tip someone off and it will install a less upbeat state in them.

Also, get up earlier and take a walk outside or get some coffee or whatever you like to do in the morning. Particularly if you commute on public transportation like I now do. I always find myself more interested in interacting with strangers on the bus/train when I am well-rested and I come away from it having a clearer read on them.

This is a very good post. Follow this tip anyone who read this.

I read about that there are some chemical in the mind that stuns the brain. So it will work less effective. When you have rested that chemical is reduced very much and the brain will function much more effective. When you are tired you also lose your sexual desire, so get some good sleep, exercise and eat right, key for success...

I love nuts and bolts posts.

Although I don't know how true this is, I'm presuming 100%, I never get enough sleep on college nights and although I'm still enthusiastic, my eyes hurt and I am always tired. I never go to bed early enough. I'm so silly.

Thanks for the reminder.

I do this naturally...and I think it is natural to everyone if you let it out.

It's not a big deal. Really.

I'm don't agree with the being "tired' bit. This is only if you are exhausted or not used to it, but today was a tiring day being up at 5am commuting to volunteer to families to bridge the digitial divide. I made some new contacts with the other volunteers, good convo, and was tired throughout the entire thing. Not to mention how much teaching/training drains you. Maybe it was the pizza we had for break =)

To get more technical: the brain is a neural network. When it gets over-used, say if you work for 10 hours straight, the efficiency of the system falters. Logic centres and memory recall suffer. This phenomenon was even simulated in a computer years ago. After significant up-time, the system had to be left in an idle state to regain peak efficiency. Bizarre but true. Not sure if new research has overturned this conclusion, but we all know that rest and down time is required for peak performance.

If you are trying to be witty with a HB, read body language, listen to her responses, gauge timing, take in the environment, etc, you need to be at your sharpest (in a relaxed kind of way).
