Should you drink before an interview?

God, I hate these things, but I have two important interviews this week. The last interview I had was in July, and I got the job, I had two cans of Stella before the interview, brushed my teeth twice over, and ate probably 2 packs of mint gums on the way there, I was more confident and much more forward than previous interviews.

Should I do this again? I nearly flopped it on a recent phone interview, where I was caught off guard, luckily I had the laptop by arms reach to get the added information I needed for the questions being asked, he eventually said he would put me through to the main board for the interview.

How do you stay self-aware and prepared all the time? I can't fvcking remember every single detail I did in my job last year, i need some tips on how to stay more aware and prepared?

Also, what are the most commonplace questions asked in any interview?

I suck at interviews too. My biggest problem is that I get so nervous that I think I appear disinterested in the job, and my enthusiasm isn't given a chance to shine through. I've worked on remedying this as my need for a "real" job becomes more apparent.

I would say work on fixing what's wrong rather than drinking your way through every interview. It loosens me up too, but relying on drinking to get you through important things in life seems a little...cowardish. I guess the trick is to prepare for the interview so well that you're never caught off guard.

There's other things you can take to relax that won't affect you like alcohol... or weed.

A little bit a ox Xanax always worked well for me. WhitePimp is right though, you should work on fixing whats wrong, then interviews will be a breeze.

I would not do it. Reason being.......... Sometimes the way you see or feel yourself is not the same as other people see you. Maybe even strangers. Their perception could be totally opposite of what you see in the mirror.

Example......... I can have a mixed drink and feel relaxed and normal. I will feel relaxed and normal........ nothing out of the ordinary.........but some people can see the one drink in me. They will say ...you already had a drink??? Uhhhh!!! They will sense something different that I dont.

Be careful if you do it.

Is this a serious topic?

You're doing THEM a favor by offering your professional service.

Walk in, build some rapport with the interviewer, show him you have substance, and you're in. Make your resume interesting. Do you think that if you listed "gliding" and "skydiving" in your interests and hobbies section, that they might take an interest in you over some clueless twit fresh out of college?

I've gone to an interview or two after knocking back one or two shots. I can't say it's for every one but it worked for me. I think it depends on your experience with alcohol and how many interviews you've done in the past more than anything else. I guess how bad you want the job comes into play as well but usually that's a matter of the moment.

Never try to read a woman's mind. It is a scary place. Ignore her confusing signals and mixed messages. Assume she is interested in you and act accordingly.

A little bit of coke would help. You buy a baggie, and then use an end of pen cap to put just a tiny bit into each nostril. Make sure to clean your nose first. It gives you confidence, you'll go through the interview without any problem!

I'd stay away from weed and alcohol for an interview, those are depressants, and you need the opposite of a depressant. Also keep away from xanax, those have suicide as one of side effects.

If you live in South America you can skip coke and chew on coka leafs.

i have a phone interview sometime between now and afternoon. Caffeine is the trick, hopefully. Wouldn't do alcohol, even if a few wouldn't really hurt..

yeah that's a good idea, you would need this new job to support your new coke habit which you will use as a crutch for every situation you feel nervous in.

Alcohol, marijuana or cocaine before an interview.
