Should I openly say I'm Atheist ?

I would put it down if its actually true. I don't see how setting false pretenses is better, because your lie will eventually be discovered if a relationship starts. Besides, there might be that atheist hot chick out there looking for a guy she can identify with.
Are you a hard-core atheist? The reason I ask is because if you could truthfully say "agnostic" instead, its a bit more toned down and probably a bit more openly accepted. Agnostics are about 2 to 1 to atheists on myspace (i don't participate on facebook).

Unfortunetly, it probably might scare people away.

It's not that much of a big deal. There isn't such a horrible stigma attached to not Accepting Christ or believing in a magical man in the sky like there used to be. There are tons of openly atheist/totally secular young people out there nowadays.

Well you have those people who are just goth or emo that just straight up claim they are atheist for the hell of it.
Yet, you have atheists with these brilliant ideas and philisophies on why they chose atheism.
One of my music teachers was atheist, he often got preached to about why he should choose God etc etc. Well to counter act this he studied every religion.. religiously (no pun intended) lol.
That way when someone was debating religion he could call out doctrine, or something that contradicts their claim.
He's a really brilliant guy, very young to, very DJ like I think he studied it, Ive never asked though lol.
But anyway, long story short while studying all these religions he actually found religion.
But my point is that to be a good atheist, it certainly helps to have a good philisophy as to why you're atheist and be knowledgable of other religions to support your claims.

Most Atheists consider themselves Agnostic/Atheists because if you claim that you are 100% sure that there is no God you are basing that on faith something which Atheists (in general) don't have, because they don't make claims based on things they don't know.

I'm atheist/agnostic as well. I don't broadcast it out there not because I'm afraid to (as I openly tell people I'm closer to) but because girls fall in "love" with guys who they think will mold into their lives.
It's actually harder not to say it, BUT it works in my favor.
There is no reason to limit yourself by pointing out one more incompatibility - unless you plan on marrying the girl.
I assume you're not looking for marriage yet?
By the way, this is one of the basic laws of power in 48 laws of power in case you're into that.

This is incorrect. An Atheist believes there is no God. An agnostic reserves judgement on the whole God issue. Thus, the agnostic is the only "religious position", if you will, that does not involve "belief" of any kind. Any questions?
95% of Americans are 100% sure because only ~ 5% considered themselves agnostics. Now that's hard to believe!
There's one kind of atheist; those that believe there is no God. I reject the "weak" vs "strong" atheist positions because by those definitions, a "weak atheist" is just an agnostic in my opinion.

I also like the idea of just not listing it. I know myspace gives that option; not sure about facebook.
Nobody cares or even looks at it really. I've had mine listed as atheist since the very beginning and nobody seems to even notice. As long as you're not screaming at them for believing in God, their not going to hold it against you. Unless they ask you about it directly, leave it out of the conversation.
It's always best to be yourself.

I don't know man, it's strange up here. A good portion of the women here feel that there would be major contention if you aren't of the same faith not even mentioning if you don't believe. If you affirm that there is no god, you are saying that you know that there is no god. When you know that there is no god you are not basing it on facts because you cannot prove that there is no god. To believe something without facts (ie: theists) is called Faith.

Because there is no evidence to support it. Hence an Atheist is someone who has Faith that there is no god, which doesn't make much sense. Atheism is an extreme, somewhat like Communism which is nearly impossible to achieve.
Most big "Atheists" (ie: Richard Dawkins), admit that they aren't 100% certain that there is no god, they think it's IMPROBABLE though, and that the chances are slim to none but they won't assure you that there is no god.
Take a look at this scale:
7-Atheism
6-=
5-=
4-Agnosticism
3-=
2-=
1-Theism
Most will fall into number 6...
Number 7's would be falling back into the Theists none-sense of "knowing" (based on faith, not facts) that there is no god, which would be contradicting itself.

Still, if someone asks, you tell 'em your views whether you think they'll agree or not. Don't be ashamed of your beliefs just because they aren't the norm.
Just FYI, here in the UK most people are atheist/agnostic I'd say (in fact a study I just found says only 31% of britons claim to be a member of a religion). I wonder why americans are so much more religious. tis interesting. Different schooling maybe?

Agnostics neither believe nor reject the possibility that God exists. You're still struggling with that fast. Atheists fully believe there is no God just as must as a Deist fully believes there is.
If anyone admits they're not 100% certain there are no Gods, then they're admitting they're not an atheist. Again, "weak atheism" is not atheism in my book. Its agnosticism.
Agnosticism isn't even on the scale. They take no position at all.
