Should I go or would I be setting myself up for failure?

My girlfriend is the maid of honor at her friends wedding tomorrow. I work so going to the ceremony isnt an option, but she wants me to show up at some point during the reception to "dance with her."

The problem is I would literally not know a single person except for her. (well, I met the bride and groom once briefly). I'm an introvert so making new friends out of a huge group of strangers isn't my favorite hobby, so I'd likely end up following her around like a lost puppy all night. Don't get me twisted though, I am generally the life of the party when I am with people I'm comfortable around. But this particular situation doesn't look too promising for my social proof.

On the other hand there is a small chance that it could turn out to be nothing like I expect and it actually be a great time for both of us.

I'm torn. Should I avoid the potentially ugly situation, or suck it up and just go and have fun. Opinions please!

As long as the bride and groom are cool with it, you should definitely go.

A wedding isn't usually like a 21st birthday piss-up where everyone is just talking about how smashed they got on the weekend. There will be parents, uncles, aunts and the like who in my experience are generally not so cliquey and will want to talk to the guy who's dancing with the maid of honour.

Hopefully your girl will have some food set aside for you :)

Nothing ugly about this one, go and have a great time!

I am going to have to agree with you guys. I just need to get out of my comfort zone a bit I suppose. I'm gonna go.

Good advice Cremasta!

Yes GO. Broads get super horny after going to a wedding/reception. Specialy after some wine & dancing. This one chick I was dating last spring was blowing me on the way home.
She didn't even wanna wait to get to her house, she's like find a park! Yeah that was a fun nite definitely worth it.
