Should I be feeling this right after I deadlift?

When I started working out, deadlifts usually tired my hams and quads. Right now, I'm deadlifting about 175lbs and immediately after I finish my set I feel this extremely sore sensation in my lower back, more towards the tail bone I believe. Is this normal??

I don't know whether there is a problem with my form but this sensation only lasts for awhile and have never had back pain ever since I starting DLs.

I'm not sure what extremely sore sensation means to you. Does it feel like an injury type of hurt? Some suggestions

- Watch videos on correct dead-lifting form
- Have a trainer or someone knowledgeable in your gym critique your form in person
- Lower the weight a lot and really get your form down
- Create a foam rolling, stretching, flexibility routine
- Add in 3x12 on pull throughs to assist your deadlift

Might sound a bit over protective but you really don't want to mess up your back.

It's hard to say. I think as long as it's just soreness and not pain you should be fine. You should record your form on video and make sure it's OK though just to be sure.

feeling sore is okay. Pain is not good. when you say; Usually my Hams and Quads feel sore. it could mean those muscles werent as strong as your lower back. An example could be when you first start Bench Pressing. You may notice your shoulders and triceps feeling sore but not your pecs. Cause those muscles arent as strong as your pecs and after they get stronger you will feel more of a burn in your pecs

You may not be warming up and stretching long enough or using improper form. If you havent been lifting weights for awhile. You should start out lighter and work your way up

When you say it feels sore, you mean a different soreness than muscle fatigue/rebuilding, correct?

Back in early July I started getting this odd soreness in my lower back. It was right around the spine, very slightly to the right side. For about a month, there was no "pain". It really just felt like I desperately needed a massage.

Then in late August, I had a softball game, and went golfing 3 times within a 6 day period. I woke up after the 3rd day of golf in pain, for the first time since I first had this feeling. I talked with some trainers at my gym about it, and they gave me some stretches and exercises to try. It made it worse. I eventually went to a doctor, and then to a chiropractor.

The chiropractor determined that this was a disc issue, and told me to take at least 2 months off from the gym. I went to see her twice a week for electrotherapy, ultrasound, deep tissue massage, and adjustments. That, combined with the time off at the gym and I am finally feeling better. I got the OK to go back to the gym about 3 weeks ago, and I have not had issues since. I am paying much closer attention to form now, and doing the stretches she laid out for me.

Not saying this is your issue, but what you described seems to be how my issue started.

Found out the problem with forms. Seems like I'm pulling the load with my lower back. Ouch!
