Should I ask her friend?

Well, yesterday I asked one girl to prom and she said she didn't want to go with me. Today, I was talking to this other girl, who happens to be good friends with the first girl. Do you guys think I should ask the new girl anyway? The way I am looking at it is that I have nothing to lose, so why not.

Here's a line that may or may not work, it worked for me:

Jim: Whose taking you to formal?

HB7: No one.

Jim: Don't you dare call me a no one or else I might not take you to formal.

and she should get the message, and you're not asking her, your telling her, leading her.
