Should a husband who wants to paternity test his kid get counseling instead?

I know this is going to sound odd, because it is definitely strange for me. My HUSBAND told me last night that he wanted to get a paternity test for our 3 month old son.

The responses:

I would grant him the paternity test without hesitation. Then I would ask him to go to counseling with me for his trust issues

I would be upset at first but, I will do it and make him pay for it. Once done, counseling will be the next step.

I'd give him the paternity test & at the same time ask him to move out or start marriage counseling.

How about the fact that this happens to 10-20% of men, and he wants to be prudent? :trouble:

Also, if her integrity was the questionable, that guy never should have married her in the first place. Too many guys settle for whoever will say 'yes' first, rather than improving their game and waiting for a quality woman before getting married.

Just swab her mouth when she's snoring loudly in REM sleep, about an hour and 45 minutes after she falls asleep. Or if she's a light sleeper, do it at 4 am when she's at her groggiest.

Once you got her sample, get the kid's and yours, seal it up, and go put it under the car seat.

If you really want to be tricky about it, get one of those $2 cotton candy from Walmart and tear off a little and flush it, and leave the rest next to the bed. Like it was some kind of secret fetish or something.

BTW, even if the test comes back that you're the father, it doesn't mean that your gut feeling was wrong. She might have been cheating on you anyway.

I didn't think that the mother's DNA needs to be tested - only the father and child's.

Bingo! Men have as much right to knowing beyond a shadow of a doubt as women do. If it were up to me all children would be paternity tested at birth. Or at least I'd require a valid paternity test before any man's name could be entered as the father on the child's birth certificate. That alone would go a long way to preventing paternity fraud.

??? Dude, you don't have to get the mother's DNA. All you test is the kid and yourself.

You don't. I can only guess he doesn't fully understand how paternity tests work. You swab the kid, then your self, put the swabs in the respective containers, one for child and one for "father", and send it into the company. 1-2 weeks later you get an email/letter notifying you of the results.
