I used to own a pair of Doc Martins and recently bought a new pair of black Rockports. These shoes were not cheap (both in the low $100 range)

My friend says both of those shoes are "old people" shoes. A 28 year old like me should not be wearing those. Is he right or is he just being opinionated like he usually is.

It doesn't matter what shoes you wear, as long as they are clean. In one of the male magazines (forgot the name) it said, the highest percentage of women (forgot %, but i think it was around 40%) said that they prefere leather penny loffers.

I don't think you can qualify them as "shoes for old people", but sure they are damn too dull, not the slightest once of originality.

It's definitely NOT a pair that projects a youthful image of yourself.

It's basically very common looking shoes with a "Rockport" stamp on them.

I used to have a pair of Rockport shoes, although nothing breath-taking, it was still pretty original and youthful looking. So Rockport doesn't equate to dull and old as a brand.

Those look like dress shoes to me, not something you would wear everyday.

Doc Martens are punk as fvck if you wear them right. The 14 eyelet boots kick ass. Rockports are really boring. Kenneth Cole shoes are pretty boring too and generally not well made. But I wear bright shiny gold leather Chuck Taylors, so maybe my opinion is a little skewed.

In what settings and what attire are you going to be wearing these shoes. That's a fairly big issue when it comes to the selection.

I like kennith Cole for clubbing but If I'm going to be mobbing around town walking alot I'll wear a pair of sketchers just becaue their insole is more comfortable.

If I could walk around barefoot and impress the ladies, I would, but than I would probably get athletes foot, and a bunch of fungus, so I'll take style and comfort anyday.

Give me a $10 pair of shoes and make sure I'm gellin, makes me happy right now! Waste of my time to keep going back and looking for good lookin $10 shoes though since they of such low quality, and I ain't paying no $150 for a pair of adidas or skechers, the liars that they are, through their teeth even, I hate the brand name companies. Nike is still loyal though, so I still where those to the gym, I'm sure people have gotten bored of wearing the same pair of jazzed up sneakers for the last 16 months though...

Anybody know of some good cross trainers that are useful? I know already that it is NOT "the shoes that make a man." So you can spareme the niceties.

Go to military excess stores. They sell good quality stuff.

Alternatively, specialist hiking stores with a good rep (ask local hikers) sell good quality stuff.

I've brought a pair of $50 hiking shoes, and they've lasted me 2 years. I've gone through wet beaches, sand, jagged rocks, mud, etc.

Nice, I have really got to make a 'have got to check something out, because I need to to be smart' list.

Military excess store, there's tons of stuff in those places ain't there, You guys told me check that place out the first day I joined here in August, thanks again, hopefully I will actually kick my pants enough to move to warmer climates.

Thanks diplo.
