I broke up with my GF of 13 months about 2-3 months ago. Recently, she told me that one of the reasons she doubted our relationship is that she thought she loved me too much. She said it's dangerous because it could make her possessive, obsessive, overprotective, etc. Her friends and mother also tell her that don't love a guy too much. I don't get it. What's wrong with giving so much love?? It's not that I didn't love her back..

Personally it just sounds like a weak excuse. You don't stop talking to your parents or children because you love them too much.

It may be chic speak for, I can't tame and control you and I am afraid to be submissive to you because I might loose myself and you might run all over me. Or it could just be a nice way to let you down easy. Don't stress it...just move on. If she really loved you she wouldn't be trying to play these power struggle games.
