What would you do in this situation? Call the police report, the vandalism? Or would you just figure you deserved what you got and kept your mouth shut because he was such a good friend before? Do you think this even constitutes a criminal act?

I find too often people consumed in situations of what if, what would I when this, etc, etc... I even find myself givng damn about something that probably will not happen.

It's so bad, that people even make up their own sh1t and assign it to some people they dislike.

So, I have a new hypothetical for the community here -

Lets assume you have a best buddy for a moment, maybe he's a business partner, but someone who's a very good friend. Now lets assume that you and he have a 'falling out' of some sort and though it doesn't come to a fist fight he becomes so enraged that he takes a key to your Dodge Ram Pickup. He then smashes the hood, headlights and taillights with a baseball bat, and then carves his name into your leather seats so you'll know that it was definitely he who was the culprit.

What would you do in this situation? Call the police report, the vandalism? Or would you just figure you deserved what you got and kept your mouth shut because he was such a good friend before? Do you think this even constitutes a criminal act?

Well according to Carrie Underwood in her song Before He Cheats destruction of personal property is all good, so long as you have a vagina AND the person who owns the truck has a penis AND you were previously involved romantically. You see, if you're a woman and your man cheats on you vandalism isn't a crime, however if you're a man and your woman cheats on you vandalism not only is a crime, but proves you're in need of anger managemnet counseling.

Well first of all if he was your best friend he/she wouldn't have taken this fight this far. The most me and my bestfriend went was a good old fist-fight, of course we forgave each other. This is different, they know that your truck is worth money and still did it. So you have two options either get the cops and press charges, if you're planning to never be friends with this person or you can kick his ass. He can't go to the cops since he's the one who messed up your car, if he pulls the assault card you can always say he destroyed your car and it was self-defence. If it was a chick... slap her then go to the cops. You can't really beat up a woman and get away with it. I'm against beating chicks anyway they're three times weaker. Be a man and just press charges if it's a woman.

Good point. But actually, my response was that if a guy did it, you should try more to save the friendship. If a woman did it, most definitely I would press charges immediately. Bros before Hos. True friends are hard to come by. Women come and go like flies. And I think that music video was ridiculous. I can't believe it is actually popular? That's a terrible example of behavior.

As DRMEATHEAD so astutely pointed out, there is no actual male friend, this is a hypothetical; however I find it fascinating that so many guys took it literally. The focus of course was on the song and the glaring 'double standard' that a woman is generally excused from criminal behavior as a result of western culture being conditioned to accept women's (sometimes violent) uncontorlable emotionality and the resulting behaviors. The comparison I was making is that we tend to tolerate behaviors from women that we'd either press legal charges against, or simply bust our best male friends in the mouth for. Women are ALWAYS cast as victims, regardless of circumstance, and it takes a VERY extreme case for people to view a woman as an agressor. I think back to the woman who ran over her husband 4 times with her car and his daughter in the car who got 4 years in jail and only served a year of this sentence because her story is what people sympathized with. Men are statistics, women are stories.

But now everyone wants to press charges against a theoretical someone who messed up a truck. Truck destroyed > skull bleeding?

This song is just one of those carthatic things like we guys listening to metal or an angry song like "The Game" or "Down with the Sickness" by Disturbed. I will get the police and then take him to court to pay for the damages. And if it is a woman...well...I will do the same to her too. Don't care if she was an ex.
