A pound of lean muscle is about 600 calories. Factor in the energy needed to repair muscle fibers after workouts and energy needed to synthesize new muscle, and that the energy requirements aren't all met through protein.
You don't see people putting on pounds of lean muscle everyday day. The body simply does not need more than 1 gram of protein per pound of bodyweight per day.
What is it going to do with it all?
