Make sure you read the snide remarks at the bottom of the pics.

Seriously....this is what women consider "sexist", yet they have no problem shaming men for everything under the sun.

How is this any different from today's ads? I suppose it isn't politically correct to actually STATE the truth....but if you imply it, that's cool....

Funny stuff.

Oh man... the douche ad is awesome. The guy is running out of the house because his wife's vagina is stank.

Um, no. They are only giving them the ads that women of that time wanted in terms of how they thought of things then.

They are basically the same items as today but you're supposed to pretend they're not mostly used to attract men.

So actually the old ads are more honest. "if your skin is reptilian your husband just might leave you." *gasp* honesty!

If you go through the ads you see that society today has done a complete 180. Back then the expectation was on the woman to look good (not fat) and young (like a school girl), and they even advertised "success schools" for women to get in shape so their husband wouldn't leave them. Now, all the expectations are on the man to be in shape and look younger. If you think school girls look good, you're a creepy pedophile and now men go to bootcamps in hopes to just get a lay or maybe a GF. women are men and men are women nowadays.

You know what is the modern term for a woman who is "sexist?" A FEMINIST.

I hate the term "sexist" its ambiguous and politically correct driven word used by feminists (who are themsleves "sexists) to disagree with men every time they point out biological/physical or behavioural differences between the genders that have some evolutionary psychological merits to them but are brushed aside because they do not promote so called "equality".

When in actuality modern feminists do not promote equality but discriminate against men and promote women to become like men and switch the roles of the two genders.

"Sexist" (and really anything with an "ist" tacked onto the end of a word) is the term any advertiser is hoping you'll associate as justification to buy a competing brand selling the exact same product the same advertiser is also representing.

Yes, I work in advertising,..

Yes, the douche ad is sexist! A man ought to be able to tell his wife she stinks, I say!

Oh absolutely! But it's brought on by a conflict of biology and marketing. Men can use the same bar of soap to wash their junk, so hygeine companies don't need to sell them a separate product.

they arent sexist, because at the time , the women were reading the ads and then buying the products. the products were being advertised in ways that gave enough information for a gal to want to buy a product.
i love vintage ads, and if i had some extra room in my house, i would print them out and frame them.

I didn't even think of it that way PK.

It's amazing how attitudes change over a couple of decades.

I didn't live during that time, but I can imagine that things were "better" back then between men and women. Lower divorce rates, etc. I know my grandparents seemed pretty happy. I think it was the boomer generation that really fukked things up for everyone. Maybe it was just a "backlash" of sorts, but I think it's gone on for too long. Women created this pussified society, men allowed it to happen, and now nobody is happy.

Gen X is bearing the brunt of it, hopefully the next couple of generations will see some positive change.

i believe it was vietnam going on too long and so many dying for nothing, and woodstock's drugs, and all the men being gone so women had to take on all the jobs, and then it esculated from there.
