I've been watching reruns of Seinfeld lately. I remember thinking back in the early days of PUA gurus that Seinfeld displayed a lot of qualities from the pickup community. Maybe because it's set in New York, and shows a lot of big city dating behaviors.
The characters on the show fall into dates very casually - seems like they meet someone on the street and quickly and casually set up a date to meet. They're mostly serial monogamists - they date one person at a time, then move quickly to the next (that part doesn't fit the PUA "spin your plates" model). But they only rarely get emotionally involved, and usually break up over some small annoying habit the other person exhibits.
Jerry is the most obvious example of this. But even George, who is considered undesirable, runs into his share of dates, and sometimes even garners some deep interest (like when he played the "bad boy", and when he tried to do the "opposite" of his normal instincts). Kramer has no job but also seems to never be lacking in potential dates. Elaine basically acts like one of the guys, including the way she dates.
Anyone else think Seinfeld shows some good dating behaviors? They approach very casually and comfortably, no pressure and no sweat. Doesn't this reflect big city behavior to some extent (I live in a smaller town and we're more likely to pair up as couples)?
