A little tip that has helped me:

If you plan to hit multiple places when out in the field, go somewhere lame first. For me, I'm a little uncomfortable at first and I need to get used to being out, so it's a waste to go to the prime locations first.

With the exception of liquor, this is a good tip. Also, if you say hi to everyone you run into at a boring place, it will get you comofortable enough to open up to anyone you want to.

what about a those shops which sell those little figures that you paint, like dwarfs and dragons and what not.

those places are lame, more so when looked at in the context of sarging.

Why on earth would you go to a games workshop to sarge?

Alcohol doesn't help me approach, but it will help me feel comfortable during a conversation. Even while drunk I'm too self-consious to approach.

sam malone: too true, I've been in such bad moods that I spent 200 bucks without spending a dime on a dame, a dame, or even a tip jar.... I got smashed and still couldn't get the nerve to sarge. Got good done and raped by falling onto the right lap though;)

lame places? those are where the fun girls go to find the 'good guys' you gotta show them that when they meet a true social genius they don't give a **** where you pick em up. my fave is in the library stacks;)

I haven't travelled out of this stink hole in 3 years, next time I go down i'm going to sarge the stupidest places and use the lamest lines just to prove it's the method and the meaning, not the words and the games you play:)

HAHAHA little miniatures shop, priceless... I can see the old ladies blushing now

Actually you'd be surprised. A lot of hot women occasionally go to those antique shops, especially if they've got some cool auctions going. I did a bit of work for this antique charity auction place and got more numbers than the mall.
