Rookie Mistake Number 1 or 2

So I'm at the plasma center yesterday right, and theres this chick there. She is real fine taller then me thick nice smile and all that gay crap. So she takes me in the room takes my temp and blood pressure. After I'm done telling her I don't have aids I get up to leave the room and say,

"umm I hope you don't think I'm a creep or jerk for saying this, but I think you are ver attractive".

What the hell am I a klingon. I mean first I couldn't find the confidence in my voice. Usually it has a lot of bass and is deep. When I'm not sure or confident it get a little more boyish. Secondly You can't just go around telling chicks you like them. Well, you can if you don't want a relationship or a serious one. Man I just don't know what to say in certain situations plus I think she was married. Well, I ain't going to rack my brain over this, but any suggestions would be nice.

You can tell a girl she's attractive... but it's all how you say it and the vibe you give off to people...

Sure, it was a mistake that your voice lacked authority and confidence, but the second mistake you pointed out isn't really the mistake... the mistake was in how you worded it... notice what you did first... you qualified yourself to this chick and that right there destroyed it before you even got to the last part...

If I'm commenting on how attractive someone is, I will never just give it as a general comment... I'll be really specific with it and tell them what it is that I find attractive... it's about catching a chick off guard, so rather than waiting until your about to step out of the door and the position is kinda awkward, you tell her something about her eyes, for example, when she's in an awkward position and trying to examine you...

Next time, be a man about it... have that confidence rather than looking like you have been mulling over saying it to her but only just got the nerve at the very last minute... you'll get better results... I don't really know much about you though, so maybe you'll need to use some tools to build attraction with her first.. some dudes wouldn't have to, but if you find that the above isn't working for you, then you know you have to run a couple of routines on her first...

Let's analyze the line for a second

"Um" Not a good start. Just say the line, never say um. Every word you use should have purpose and direction.

"I hope you dont think I'm a creep or jerk" She didn't until you said this. Then you planted the seed. Never apologize for making a statement to a woman. In this case you are projecting that she may think less of you already - which shouldn't be the case. Just start with the compliment.

"I think you are very attractive" Not a mistake. Women like to hear compliments.

Here's a way things may have gone better (for next time)

1. Find something about her you can neg. Maybe she's real slow at taking your tests, you can neg her with "wow, I didn't realize how slow you were at doing your job, I guess that's what happens when a cute guy is distracting you"

2. She'll laugh, and you've instantly disarmed her

3. I'm not sure if this test leaves a mark on your arm or whatever, but you can also say "man I hope this doesn't scar, I don't want girls seeing that" This would establish the fact that you get women. A bonus.

4. Before leaving fluff the small talk a bit. Then on your way out say something like "how we gonna continue this outside of a plasma center? I'd really like to see if you're just as slow talking on the phone as you are taking my blood test..."

The confidence will come. Just maintain eye contact. Practice on people. It'll just flow. Don't forget you're the man. This will come to you brother.

The only time a man can use "ummmm" and it might work is if he has a very strong accent (e.g. English is second language) and he approaches the woman...tells her something cheesy such as

"I saw you standing here...and it reminded me of...ummmm... [pretends he is looking for the English word] a chef-d'œuvre d'art..."

That might work in this case because the first language in this example is French. He has a strong French accent. The woman will not care for the "ummmm"...as she is already captivated by a COMBINATION of

1- the accent
2- the bluntness of his approach
3- his looks (assuming he is good looking or exotic)

Other than that? I don't see "ummmm" as a good thing.

Thanks for the analysis. I don't even think I said umm, I just assumed I did. This is funny because sometimes things just work for me and sometimes they don't.

I was just watching Friends - The One Where Ross Can't Flirt. I was thinking that the supposedly hopeless angle Ross pursued to get the pizza girls number - asking whether the pizza oven was wood-fired, and then telling her that they put the smell into gas, and finally naming other gases that smell - the right person, ie me, could have used the same material and made it work.
