Reputations and Impressions

I noticed a weird thing today. I had a group of girls around me that were fairly hot, around 6-7 each and they were 'artsy' types. Myself I play guitar and bass so I could be called 'artsy' but w/e, so it reached the extent where even I had too much of the same.

So I went and tried going for some preppy girls that were a bit higher at 8 or even 9 each (behind the make up same as everyone, lol). Anyway they instantly were like 'omg...him...ok....like should I talk to him or just ignore'. But when I serperated a few of them from their pack and we got talking they just fell under my spell even though im not like Mr Muscle (its the accent).

So I got something going on with my rep. Any suggestions on how to boost it?

Reps are a bunch of bullsh*t. I purposefully go out of my way here and there and do something totally against my 'reputation'. I've got this label as a jockish hard@ss so every now and then, I'll show a little sensitivity, or a little artistic ability you know. Just something to think about

a good rep or a bad rep is not nessessarily your image. I play drums and I get all kinds of girls. "Reps" for the most part arent important. Having a good rep helps, but not tremendously. However if you have a bed rep kiss your girl life down the drain. If you're known as a smelly kid that doesn't shower you might as well move away and start over new with showering. As long as you dont have a rep as like a childmolester then you're fine.

Image on the other hand is important, if youre a goth youre not gonna get a jock girlfriend. Just find the right type of girl for you. Since you play guitar you might find a girl in the emo, goth, or heavymetal scene. If someone is a prep I doubt a goth would want to be a part of a prep's upbeat trendy life style because goths tend to be more antiestabilishment.

Due to the compatibility between images I find that its important (if you want to date all kinds of different girls) to be something in the middle. Preps, skaters and gangsters usually tend to be the most compatibile with other types. On the other hand, if youre a goth and since many people look down on goths you are going to be dating exclusively goths.

Some people dislike this info im feeding you and tend to tell you otherwise(LikRetsam). Imagery and reputations exist. If you want to work on improving them it can only help you but on the other hand if you choose to ignore them thats fine too. It's a double edged sword, I prefer to use this double edged sword.

Mabye I'll do a post one day on images, reputations, etc... what do you think?

Hey xomel I like where your coming from. What can I say - you covered everything I was thinking about, your damn right about being the middle man. Ive played it a few times and its quite challenging balancing it out but rewarding

You should go for a post on this stuff, its so huge that it slows a lot of people down and gets them stuck into groups. High school half the time ends up like a gangwar with all the diff. groups. If you can get above it all and then u get the girls x how many ever groups there are.

Here's a question - What about if you have a reputation, but it is NOT true and you have no clue where this could have come from (like some kid was just telling it as a joke, but everyone believed it? This isn't my case but I was just curious as to what you thought of it.

I will use my situation as an example, although I am 99% sure I don't really have a bad rep:

I have won Homecoming Prince, but I have never had a girlfriend. Most of the guys talk to me (although I'm not really close with many of them) but girls aren't coming up to me at all (the majority of the time). When I have asked girls out (one in particular), they're fine with me as a friend, although they wouldn't reall want to date me and the one in particular got pissed when I asked her out. I'm pretty sure, although I have won Homecoming Prince (twice) that there would be no rep to this...right, especially sicne I've never had a gf nor had s*x so I;d still be "clean"? My guess is it's not and I just have to talk to more girls more often and use tips from the bible (which I've read) and the website.

Answer: I wouldn't think too much of it, not a big deal, It would be cool if someone thought I was better than I really am. Nothing more. It's not anything I'd worry about.

Youre probably finding trouble when it comes to asking girls out because you are in the "friends" category. Which is most likely due to you not flirting. If i can help you with anything else my aim sn is in my profile.

Well I can admit I am not a constant flirter yet, BUT I flirt more than my friends, some of whom have gf's (some HB's in there). The girls are more "acquaintances" than they would be friends - I don't have a lot of "real friends" that are girls. It probably is because of the lack of flirting constantly, but it appears I almsot get "looked over" by girls in a sense - I am not a social reject or anything either, it just doesn't work out.
