So I been wrestling with this question because girls say it to me often, especially now that its summer and I take my shirt off. I'm 6 foot and 150lbs. Obviously too skinny for my frame and I'm working on eating more and lifting weights to improve. In the meantime, what the hell do I say when girls say "you're so skinny" or "Rick (my name) is too skinny"? You can't say a neg back to the girl cause then it looks like it got to you. I've always been stuck when I hear this and just remain silent which I think is pretty bad. Anyone got some suggestions?

Check out the Health and Fitness forum for good tips on how to bulk up. This is a problem that can be done away with.

In the meantime, just hear "You're too skinny" as them saying "Hey, you're not fat". Obviously they're checking you out, right? So how bad can it be?

Actually you are like me, but i workout and look pretty ripped... and have a lot of stares in the beach. You are thin, but your IMC is perfectly fine. And we live in a obese society wich makes you look even thinner.

Say something, yeah go find a muscular slave to handle your shopping bags... anything along those lines

I'm 5'11" 160 lbs. Been that way all my life and I like myself that way. I have always been slim, and have lived with these types of comments ever since I can remember. The one thing I have noticed is this. The people who make these comments are mostly unattractive, overweight, have a black hair growing out of a mole on their nose, etc. It seems that in some sick way, they are making themselves feel better by devaluing the appearance of others. I had a woman at work not long ago just look at me and say "you look like you just walked out of a concentration camp!!! WTF! I just gave her some stink eye, and said "how bout we just got over to the human resources manager, sit down in her office and have a chat about how my appearance relates to a prisoner in a concentration camp". She immediately said she was sorry, and has kept her mouth shut ever since. My standard comeback to snide comments from these idiots is "so what"? These are the type of people who don't think before they open the hole under their noses.

Im 5"11 and 165pounds... never thought I was big but not at all skinny either.

You guys are almost the exact same build...you must wear your weight differently.

Its very hard to add weight for some people though, just gotta try different foods and different stratagies.

Atleast your not fat

right but i don't take it personally, I mean if I was fat these same girls I'm sure wouldn't be saying "hes too fat" or "you're too fat". It seems to me in our society that it is an acceptable semi funny observation to make about men. So i don't want to say something back that would be offensive because I don't think they neccesarily mean it in that way. I was thinking the optimal answer is something really ****y and humorous. Just having trouble thinking of it!

But yah as far as appearance goes, being too skinny is kind of a bad thing. A man is supposed to be strong and a protector. I'm in the camp that looks is only 15-20% max of a man's sexual market value, so I don't use it as a crutch. But as someone trying to improve all facets of life, I see this as something I can improve on.

I guess I don't really take it all that personally. More like I'm tired of it. Get's old. Even at my age, I'm still a good lookin guy. There are tons of women out there who are attracted to slim dj's.

5string, if you dont mind me saying I think you may have taken that a little too much to heart. She may have just been trying to joke or have fun with you. Like I said, calling people too skinny is not really considered an insult in our society (even though i agree it lowers your value to prospective women). What about a response back like "why dont you cook some food for me to eat then"? *shrug*

No problem brother. The point was that instead of just saying I was skinny or slim, she chose to compare me with a POW from a concentration camp. Now you have to admit, that was pretty stupid. Activate brain before talking=good thing

I'm 6'1 and 170 lbs now, but I weighted as little as 155 at times, mainly due to cutting weight for muay thai and grappling competitions. Keep hitting up the gym and eat a lot of protein shakes, it feels good to bulk up!

As for the response, if you want to keep it short and ambigous you can go with "good thing I wasn't trying to hit on you" in a playful tone. If she's a real bytch and comes back with a response along the lines of "why? because I'm out of your league?" just go with it and say "no, because you're too fat." If the girl was hot to begin with, she'll just laugh and you have an in. If she was actually fat, she'll hate you forever but it will also shut her up.

I also like the metabolism response, just a little too long.

Been thinkin about this. Her...."yer skinny", you...."so buy me some beers and a pizza". Maybe she will. Then you can escalate and mount her.

Just because a woman listens to you and acts interested in what you say doesn't mean she really is. She might just be acting polite, while silently wishing that the date would hurry up and end, or that you would go away... and never come back.

I'd say: "So you aren't fond of skinny? Would you prefer a 'chubby'? ;)

say "thank you, i used to be 300lbs" then come up with a story of how you lost the weight

dont take sh!t like this seriouslyy and i wouldn't recommend saying back "you're too fat" or sh!t like that. it'll make you seem insecure

Never try to read a woman's mind. It is a scary place. Ignore her confusing signals and mixed messages. Assume she is interested in you and act accordingly.
