Though the 'walking' argument is a bit far fetched, I understand what you mean.

After September 11th and this, I am at the point now where I'm just like **** the government. Not in a bad way, but I fully understand now that the government has little interest in you unless you have something to offer them (i.e. money).

People do not want to say this because everyone is hung up on race, but in the government's mind (at least this what I think), they were slow to help these people because they are poor, thus making them an economic liability.

I know it sounds like some cruel **** to say, but I am not talking about this from a human perspective, simply an economic one.

If New Orleans was say, Westchester County, this would not even be a story... the government would not hestitate to help, not because they are black (or poor, to a degree) but because millionaires mean a hell of a lot more to the overall economy (somebody has to buy overpriced clothes, yachts, and Ferraris).

This is the case in Mississippi too, even though people are not really talking about it.

Bottom line: You better take care of yourself, because unless you got something you can offer... the powers that be will not give a ****.

IM ALL in for helping people, But if the intentions are to make ME FEEL BETTER, PROVE that Im better then someone, Or think that Good Works will help my score with GOD to get to heaven...

I WANT NOTHING TO DO WITH IT... For all I know, you might be helping that Certain someone go to hell...

Id rather tell them about God's free gift of eternal life, how they can accept it, start a new life and help them to there feet...
I like how this ministry since 1877 has been telling the poor, murder's, prostitutes, rich, theifs, anyone the Good news and helping them to there feet, with new life in Jesus

Sounds like you already have some good info on the subject, why don't you get some threads started? I am going overseas for a few weeks so I won't even be around for awhile.

As for the debt thing, yea, it's a problem. Not that DEBT is the problem, but that people don't understand the difference between consumer debt and investment debt. If you use debt to buy something that goes UP in value, generally the debt is good. Most people do the opposite though. They use credit to buy expensive cars and golf clubs and t.v.'s when they shouldn't be. That's the quickest way to the poorhouse, and I'm sorry to say that more than a few of the people from N.O. could have minimized their suffering had they not mismanaged debt.

Ever been in one of those rent-to-own stores? They are full of flashy, overpriced junk. It's nothing more than a way to extend credit to individuals who have no or bad credit. Ever notice WHERE they are located? Usually in or near low income neighborhoods.

So are these businesses at fault for tempting people to buy things that they can't afford? OF COURSE NOT! But that's what a few of our more liberal minded posters would want you to believe. Of course, the way they see it, poor people are "brainwashed" by advertising so their poor decisions aren't their fault. Just blame someone or something else.

I don't wish harm on anyone, but anyone who thinks that I should be responsible for the well-being of others because I have "more" needs a swift kick in the you-know-what.
